So the Libs have confirmed that they won't work with the SNP. Nicol Stephen continues to pretend this is because of the referendum, but we can safely say that's not true, since Salmond had already more or less shelved it with this "constitutional convention" crap, the Lib Dems have far more policies in common with the SNP than with Labour, and it was a contemptible excuse in the first place. Hard though it is to believe, the only possible explanation is that Stephen is so scared of Ming that he's willing to sacrifice his Mondeo so that the old man may eventually ride in one, propping up the stillborn husk of a Brown government.
Let's hope the Lib Dems lose their image of being the nice guys, the party that well brought-up people vote for. Thursday's results would suggest that they largely already have.
