wow. this weekend has been absolutely and completely insane. my weekends tend to start on thursday nites, which is exactly what happened last thursday nite. for some reason which as eluded my memory at the present time, jake and vishal ended up sleeping over. we awoke promptly at 9 AM, after several alarms went off. vishal & jake headed back to their rooms to get ready while colleen and i attended to the same matter in our room. by 11:00 we were ready to rock and roll. we headed to grab 'n go, where we grabbed as much food as possible and well, went. got in ross's car and our road trip was officially underway.
exciting things which occurred on the car ride include: Ross getting pulled over. "What's taking him so long? Doesn't he know we're in a hurry? Duh, that's why we were going friggin eighty." "Are you missing or being held against your will?" HELP written on the window. "Let's go to Witchita! Where's that, Canada?" Can I just say, my roommate is a genius.
When we finally got to my house everyone was beyond exhausted. So we headed outside to play some frisbee. This lasted for about 5 minutes. Might I add, it ended when Colleen turned into an ax murderer. And I have pictures to prove it. So we returned inside where we proceeded to watch Oprah while my mom was cooking one amazing dinner. We ate and it was marvelous. I do believe everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal.
Soon after we left for the show. We left rather early due and when we got there, I stupidly decided that it would be a good idea to drive around a bit first. Normally, this wouldn't have been that large of a problem; however, due to the fact that there was a parade in the city of poughkeepsie, it hindered my ability to navigate myself back to The Chance. I ended up calling Anthony, always my lifesaver, and he safely directed us out of the parade and back to the chance. I owe that boy my life, and he knows it. After idly standing in the freezing cold for about 15 minutes which easily felt more like an hour; we finally got in. I don't think I've ever had that much fun at a show before. We saw Skamakazi, Insult To Tradition, No Name Charleys, The Tossers, and most importantly, Big D & the Kids Table and Streetlight Manifesto. It was quite the adventure, I never actually went into the pit before at The Chance; I never knew what I was missing. Besides thoroughly enjoying the feeling of being trampled by tons of people, we danced like fools until complete exhaustion. Props to Jake who ripped his pants half way through the show but roughed it out anyway, and Vishal who nearly collapsed but just had to dance to Streetlight's encore. Most important of all, we talked to one of the guys from Big D, who was amazed by the simple fact that we knew the song Bender. Right before walking away I stated that we danced around our dorm to it all the time. As we were walking away, he actually called us back to inform us that he thought that was completely amazing because they wrote that song in their dorm room because they had a shag carpet. We explained the carpeted walls of The Boot and he responded by stating, "The music has gone full circle." Indeed it has. After the show we headed back to my house. And in case you were wondering, I safely navigated the team out of the city of poughkeepsie.
On the way home Colleen was speaking of a boy who seemed to be stalking her at the show. Trying to stay by her and following the same things she was doing. I found it quite amusing. Then we stopped at the Hess station on the way home to get drinks/snacks. Where we ran into that same boy. I found it quite freaky. When we arrived back at my home we went up to my room. I decided it would be benificial to take a shower, so I did that. When I got out I found everyone laying on my floor, which may not seem too odd. However, let me finish, Vishal was under about 4 blankets. Next thing I know I hear him mumbling something along the lines of, "I have blanket vision! I am one with the blanket!" And shortly after, "I would reallllly like some peanut butter right now!" Quite amusing if I do say so myself. Someone stated that we should watch a movie, but Jake quickly brought it to our attention that the movie was 3 hours, and we had to wake up in 2 and a half. so we decided to be smart little college children and go to sleep. waking up was a bitch. we piled back into Ross's car after my mom cooked up some coffee for ross. we made it back to IC in record time and it was decided that the only way this was possible was that we traveled through a wormhole. it took me a while but i have finally come to accept this fact. colleen and i fell asleep shortly after arriving in our dorm and didn't wake up until 4 PM. "It's dark out! Why?? The sun just came up!" Oh goodness.
The rest of the weekend was interesting. Lots of drama in the GOP, but mostly everything is solved now, I hope. I really do. Well, my perception of time and hours of sleep is still disturbed by the wormhole, so I do believe that sleep is in order right now. Oh, one more comment before I head to sleep, I went snowskating today and it was fucking awesome. The end.
