[Trials] - Creative Musings....A New Guardian Story in the Making

Jun 09, 2009 10:27

Ok, I'm a major sucker for love stories, cynical as I am. So I've gotten involved with the Twilight saga, and while I have my issues - the storyline is very good...

This kinda comes from me listening to audio books and staying up for almost 16 hours...

There's a whole backstory to the Guardian Universe that I'm not gonna get into, so just smile and nod for me...

------
Alex stood with the other cadets and listened to the commander of the Celestial Guard. He still couldn't believe that his uncle, a lowly military Lt. Colonel had recommended him for the Guard. The Guard was the highest and most well respected company of any military in the world. The Guard was known for protecting dignitaries and world leaders, but most importantly they protected and trained the most powerful people to ever exist. The Guardians.

The Guardians were beings that, while looked human, were beyond description. They were said to have descended from God himself, though Alex put little stock in that belief. There was only one God Child, and He'd been dead for over 3 millennia. Nah, he figured they were just some wild mutation of nature that gave them the powers they supposedly had. Alex had never met a Guardian, let alone had the desire to. He'd been happy living in a little town in Iowa until his acceptance letter had come.

"Lastly, a bit of news," the commander said, as he wound down his speech, "A new Guardian has surfaced. One we have been searching for since her birth. She will be coming into her powers in the next few months and has agreed to allow us to watch over her until her powers have matured enough for her to leave us. I am strongly advising all of you to keep your distance from her. She doesn't need your kinds of influence at this point in her development."

"Yeah, yeah. Blah Blah," one of Alex's neighbors muttered and Alex chanced a look to see most of the other male cadets looked intrigued by the idea of meeting a Guardian. Most times, Guardians were able to take care of themselves once their powers had matured fully so they could take up their individual tasks. They only came to the Guard once they'd discovered what they were and needed training while their powers matured. So a Guardian who hadn't even developed their powers coming to the Guard was unusual.

When the commander officially released them, Alex strode back towards the barracks to collect his jogging clothes. The Guard had been on a short leave while the leaders searched and scoured for new Guardians and the peace between the major political powers had been holding steady, but Alex couldn't relax his training. He'd grown so accustomed to the training schedule, that even during leave he couldn't get out of the habit.

blah... will probably add to this later, and maybe add notes and backstory as well... but comments would be appreciated...
