The sound of the glass shattering is wonderfully satisfying, but too soon, too soon it is gone. Sirius’s smile fades and he looks down at his hands.
Predictably, Remus has heard and comes to see what has happened. “Sirius, what was that?” Then he notices the shards on the floor and the red stain on the wall above. “Sirius!” Ah, this scandalised tone …
“What? I needed some entertainment. Worth a proper wizard.”
After Sirius has stalked out of the kitchen, Remus doesn’t pick up the shards at once. He stares at the broken blue stem of Sirius’s favourite glass.
