A Morning
It’s a horrible scratching sound that wakes him and Remus jumps out of bed, wand in hand, still uncomprehending. Then he realises it’s just an owl behind the window and he lets it in warily. Good news is too rare now to await messengers.
This time’s no different: … another attack … four Muggles … meeting tonight … And suddenly it’s too much, too many, too long and-
Then he hears it. Tap, tap, tap: Sirius’s bare feet on the floor as he comes from the kitchen with two mugs of steaming coffee. Remus welcomes him with a grateful smile.
