Woot! Say hello to my little friend!

I got a laptop! Yes, really! OK, some people might not be aware of this, but I am not very well off. My parents have not bought me a computer for years now. And a laptop is just too far out of my range usually. However, this is the story of how I came to own one.
- Awhile back, my girlfriend telyni mentioned having a laptop that had a cracked screen. Now, I, knowing nothing about fixing laptops, thought, "Well, it could be an interesting thing to try."
- I bought the laptop from her for $40 and some food.
- I bought a replacement screen later for $70 (after doing much research).
- In the meantime, I also bought more RAM and a wireless LAN card for it.

This laptop currently has a 450MHz Pentium III processor, 320MB of RAM, 6GB hard drive, 56k modem, 10/100 ethernet, 802.11b wireless, detachable CD-ROM/floppy module (it's one of those thin-and-light models), detachable 4GB hard drive. Total cost: $155.

In short, I am quite pleased with the results. The laptop now functions quite nicely, and replacing the screen turned out to be not too horrible. I'm using this computer as my only one in Japan, so I need to pimp it out. I'll probably put in a 40GB hard drive (which keeps me below my $250 goal, by about 5 or 10 bucks). I might decide to add on another $100 and give it a DVD burner... haven't decided on that one yet :) Anyway, I just wanted to say "whee!"
