I just had a neat idea
I think I figured out how to make my CS degree work with EALC and linguistics :)
My new goal is to create software that analyzes foreign speakers' spoken English, and tells them how to correct it. Of course, something along those lines is nearly impossible to perfect, but if it even causes some benefit (for example, it teaches some Japanese person to say city instead of shitty), it might be worthwhile. I'm still sort of thinking about what would be involved... but that seems like something cool to do.
