[OOC] State of the Quincy (Reapp)

Apr 21, 2007 01:48

... so uh. This is the character I said I'd NEVER re-app. This is the character I said was also impossible to re-app (for me, anyway), for ... a number of reasons. Lolz. I got some 'splainin' to do! This is mostly for my own edification, as well as being ... well, a justification for something that I said I would never do. Because "I missed him D:" is not a good enough reason for reapping. rly.

Why I Dropped Him

Back in November, I was in a bad, bad rut. Ishida's an easy character to rut anyway, since Ishida is so utterly retarded anyway. To be completely honest, his career had more or less flatlined within a month after Ying left; I simply didn't have anything else to do with him that didn't involve "rar rar my boyfriend might be dead and also my mother figure is gone D: D:" I don't think he had any significant threads in the fall at all. And his birthday rolled around, and I didn't want to do anything for that ... ergo, dropping.

I really enjoyed the drop. I got a lot of super-awesome threads with people that I still remember fondly, and I feel that the resolution was truly excellent. It was a good, satisfying ending to Ishida's long career at camp - very gratifying to me as a player. One of my biggest concerns about actually reapping was thinking over whether or not it would invalidate that ending to bring him back. I'm hoping that the five-month stretch will be enough to let the ending stand AND allow me to transition him back into camp. Hopefully.

Why I Reapped

... lolz uh. Multiple reasons! Quite frankly, I missed him. Not in the first month, no, but within two or three months I was kinda regretting the decision. That really got cemented when someone else applied for Ishida and all I could do during that time was go "no no no nooooo D: D:" at the voting post. F-fortunately for me, he didn't get taken. I continued to bat the idea around in the next few months, until I finally decided to just DO IT already.

Beyond that ... I think there's still a lot of things I can do with him. Also, getting a five month break, where I got to send him back home (with resolution!) means that I get to a) pull him back towards canon a little and b) resolve the things causing the ruts in the first place. PENDING MOD PERMISSION I'm saying that Ishida basically went home, saw Heine was safe, and went on with his life. No canon events changed. He's the same character! He just happens to have a thoroughly embarrassing boyfriend now. :Dd

So yeah. Basically, I missed my shounen retard. I think I can take him back without putting him straight into another rut. Hopefully!

Where He Is Now

I-I need to sit down and work out specific timelines, BUT if I am not mistaken, Kurosaki and co. run off to Soul Society right after school gets out for the summer. They come back by the time school is back in session for the fall, and then the Arrancar business takes place in Decemberish. I think. Don't hold me to that last part; I really need to double-check it. If someone would like to correct me on that point, please do.

When I first apped Ishida, I took him from directly before the Soul Society arc. (It was nearly two years ago, after all. That arc had a long way to go at that point. XD) He regained memories in camp from events happening after that point, but he didn't actually go home and live them. I figure that he went home just before SS and promptly forgot any canon memories he acquired in camp. He meets up with Heine somewhere, then blathers off to SS like a retard. Comes back, no powers, stuff happens, yadda yadda all the way up until the most recent chapters of teh Bleach manga, where Kurosaki and co. are rescuing it up in Hueco Mundo.

The way I figure it, Ishida basically ended up going through canon "twice" in spots, to cover for the places where he had extra memories in camp (SS) or where more recent events were played out (Ishida regaining his powers from Ryuuken). He won't have realized it in canon (duh), but in camp, he will realize that he remembered stuff "twice" due to camp's interference. I hate using something like this, but it's the only way I can think of to preserve stuff that happened in camp while also giving him a comfortable gap for me to reset him enough to make him playable again.

Being from the latest chapters of the manga means that he knows a few spoilers, but I don't expect them to come up in camp. If they do, he'll be quiet and not tell people (unless they poke me and say they specifically want to be told). That should take care of timeline issues. If anyone has any concerns, please please tell me. We can work stuff out.

Anyway, I think that's all I have to say at this point. If I think of anything else, I'll definitely throw it up here. I n-need to go make icons and also RAGE AT M7 for their manga servers not being robust enough. >:(
