In reference to my last post, here's the opening scene of this girl's screenplay:
INT. HALLWAY- DAY
FADE IN on a plaque on a door that reads: Deloris Whitman, Attorney at Law.
INT. DELORIS'S OFFICE- DAY
Camera Pulls Back to reveal an office. DELORIS, 59, attractive but not stunning woman, sits at her desk on a phone call.
DELORIS
(over phone)
Okay... yes. See you at seven thirty.
VOICE
(over intercom)
Deloris their ready for you.
Deloris proceeds down the hallway and is handed her usual cup of coffee by CINDY, her secretary, a perky young girl.
CINDY
Coffee?
DELORIS
Thanks Cindy.
DELORIS (CONT'D)
Love the heels. I'm about due for a new pair.
CINDY
These old things.
And scene.
Aside from the multiple grammar, spelling, and formatting errors, this is probably the most useless scene in the history of cinema. Deloris never meets with anyone at 7:30. She also never hangs up the phone or leaves the office to go out into the hallway, but who cares? At least we know who Deloris really is as a character: an attractive woman that usually drinks coffee.
It only gets worse from here.
