A/N 1: This is a crossover of my favorite manga. The story basically comes from it with a little adjustment from me. I wish to take part in celebrating this Sho’s month. But I'm afraid I won't be able to finish this mini series at Sho’s birthday. Well, I’ll try my best! ^^ The Imperial Kingdom is just an imaginary kingdom, as also stated in the manga. So don’t try to look for it in the real world map ^^”
A/N 2: Un-beta ed. Sorry for any grammatical mistakes. Please be gentle to me.
Chapter 2
Satoshi woke up with dazed. He blinked few times, looked around unfamiliar big room where he slept in. For a moment he confused, but then he remember that he was at Imperial Kingdom to visit Aiba-chan. He also remember his encounter with Prince Sho last night and blushed.
There was a phone ring heard, and Satoshi picked up the phone on the nightstand.
“Ohchan~ good morning! Do you have a nice sleep?” Aiba said on the line.
“Aiba-chan,”
“How about you come to my room, we can have breakfast together here,” Aiba suggested. Satoshi nodded in response, even though Aiba won’t see it anyway, then hung up. He quickly changed his clothes and headed to Aiba’s chamber. He expected to see the bright and sunny smile of Aiba, but what he saw was a tired sleepy looking Aiba who always had a big sigh.
“What’s up? You look so tired Aiba-chan,”
“Ah~ Ohchan... I’m indeed so tired. Last night I was stucked with some minister from some embassy. There was so many introductions, hand shakes, dances... Aah, I wished Kazu-chan wasn’t a King,” said Aiba tiredly.
Satoshi looked around. “Where’s King Kazunari? Is he still asleep?”
“No. Early this morning Kazu-chan went to some country in South America. There’ll be some kind of important meeting or something like that,” Aiba explained with the same tiredness. But his expression then turned gloomier, and more to look sad.
“Satoshi, I’m sorry about last night. It sure wasn’t a pleasant thing for you,” Aiba said his worry.
Satoshi laughed it off. “It’s okay. Don’t worry too much. It was fun too,”
Aiba then smiled a little. “Beside you, there was no one here look after me. Sure there was Kazu-chan beside me, and oh, I almost forget there was also Sho-chan...”
Satoshi blushed when Prince Sho’s name mentioned.
“Ah, I’m sorry, you were also there for me too, don’t you?” said Aiba to Rogreen the dog. It sat at the end of their chair. Rogreen barked.
For a moment, Satoshi met Rogreen’s eyes and the memory of the two almost fought in their first meeting came again. Rogreen quickly averted its head in a seemly mocking way, and it irritated Satoshi. He almost went to Rogreen to fight with the dog again. Luckily Aiba came in time to prevent Satoshi from even stood up.
Aiba continued his talking. “About Sho-chan, he always have an argument with General Ogura,”
Ah, do you mean the seemly great old man who interupted us last night? Satoshi thought to himself.
Aiba nodded. “He was the highest commander of Imperial Palace guard. You can say the guardian inside the palace. The mother Queen was realy trusts him, and the General also really against the marriage between Kazu-chan and me.”
Satoshi felt sorry for his childhood friend. “Aiba-chan, is there anything I can help? May be my help won’t be much, but if there is anything...”
Aiba smiled weakly again. “Thank you Oh-chan, you are so kind,”
“Really Aiba-chan, there was something that bother you right? Yesterday there something you wantes to tell me, didn’t you? What was it?” asked Satoshi.
Aiba hesitated. “I-I couldn’t tell you. I’m so afraid. That’s why I called you to come here. I shouldn’t have involved you in his,”
“Is that it? You disappoint me. You can trust me, you know!” Satoshi scolded Aiba.
Although still a bit hesitant, Aiba then slowly told his story. “Actually at the north tower of this palace, there was...”
“There was what?”
“... a ghost,” answered Aiba while slightly bitted his lips.
Satoshi shocked. “Really?”
“Two of our servants saw it. They are not kind of people who like to tell lies. In our kingdom there was a story that if there was someone that in compatible with the royal family, the ghost of the first King will appear and the kingdom will fall. Now the ghost appears at the north tower, and every night haunt there,”
Aiba paused for a moment before continued, “The ghost started to show lately, after I became the King’s spouse,”
Satoshi shocked even more.
“I can’t tell this to anyone. This thing included the royal family’s name. Besides I don’t want Kazu-chan know this,” explained Aiba again. His face was so sad. “Luckily the two servants can shut their mouth. If there was any other witness, it can be a big problem.”
“I understand Aiba-chan, your story is enough. I’ll fight the ghost!” said Satoshi bravely.
“Oh-chan~”
“May be it was just an illusion of cowards servants. If the ghost is really exists, I’ll try to persuade it, that its appearance just a mistake. Aiba-chan is a perfect person to be the King’s spouse,” reasoned Satoshi.
Aiba started to smile wider. “Then let’s go together to the north tower tonight!”
“You can’t go Aiba-chan, you are the King’s spouse! Just trust me on this,”
“But it can be dangerous if you go alone,”
“I won’t be alone. There’s bodyguard, right?” said Satoshi pointed to Rogreen, who turned shocked.
“Rogreen?”
“Yeah, what’s the point of having a useless dog? If sees someone new, it’ll jump at the person, right? So it’s really good,” said Satoshi happily. He then turned to Rogreen, grabbed its chin up and said directly to the dog. “Hey listen, if there’s something happen to the King’s spouse, you’ll be stray dog who search left over food in streets. Do you got it?”
Rogreen quickly nodded.
Satoshi satisfied with that. He’ll be able to solve Aiba-chan’s worriness and had Rogreen a lesson. Two stone with one rock.
That night after memorized the direction of the north tower from Aiba-chan, he went to there along with Rogreen. He wasn’t a person who got scared easily. Even when he was young and played bravery test at some haunted place whatsover, he usually the one who in the end calmly walked off without any scream came from his mouth. It didn’t mean he didn’t believed in ghost, just if he didn’t see it himself with his very own eyes he won’t care.
So they walked in silent. He and Rogreen, up through the dark stairs toward the tower. It was so dark, the only light came from the flashlight Satoshi brought with him. It was okay, nothing came out. But turned out brought Rogreen along was a mistake. Right when they arived at the tower, Rogreen got scared by something and run to Satoshi. Because of it, Satoshi dropped the flashlight and it broken.
A mouse run passed them.
“What’s the matter with you? It was just a mouse! Look, the flashlight is broken. How can we see better again in the darkness now?” Satoshi scolded Rogreen.
But Rogreen whimpered again. There was sound of person’s step coming closer. When the sound really got closer, Satoshi could see a silouette of a man in armor, just like an old fashion King he used to see in stories.
Is he the ghost? Satoshi thought bitterly. Wow, so is it really real?
Rogreen started to walk away slowly. Satoshi could see the movement from the corner of his eyes. But he won’t do the same. He knew he had to persuade the ghost first.
“Uhm, excuse me Mr. The First King Ghost,” Satoshi scolded himself for not asking Aiba the First King’s name atleast. “You got it wrong. Here in the palace, there’s no one incompatible in the Royal Family. Aiba-chan sure comes from commoners, but he’s handsome and nice. He’s the right person to be the King’s spouse,”
But the ghost seemed not heard any of Satoshi’s words and started to get the sword in its belt. Satoshi eyed the sword closely. It can be bad sign.
Satoshi was right because not long after that the ghost quickly swung the sword toward him. Satoshi dodged and was forced to the corner. Right behind him, Rogreen whimpered loudly. “Why you just stand behind me? Cover me- waaaa!”
The sword swing again and hit the wall where Satoshi stood before.
“Whoaa, easy Your Majesty. We can talk you know?” said Satoshi panicked.
Meanwhile unknown to anyone, Rogreen actualy had a thought inside its head. If something happened to Satoshi, Rogreen could be kicked out from the palace and really searched the left over food from street to street. So when the ghost swung the sword again, Rogreen braved itself and bited the hand.
“Ow! Let me go!” the ghost screamed loudly.
“Rogreen!”
The ghost tried to make Rogreen let him go, but its still bited his hand. After few more tried then Rogreen fell to the ground. And so just like that the ghost went away.
Satoshi quickly went to Rogreen to check. “Rogreen are you okay? Thank you for saving me!”
Then through the moonlight came from the open window, Satoshi saw it. The trail of bloods, leaved by the ghost. “Ghost won’t leaved blood. So it’s a human?”
In the morning, Satoshi told all this to Aiba-chan.
“Really, it’s just human?” asked Aiba unbelieved.
“Why would I lie? The man pretended to be a ghost just for a story. It’s unbelievable. Me and Rogreen almost got killed too,” said Satoshi whille patting Rogreen’s head. Their relationship got better after what happend last night.
“So this act can be happened for two reason. One, to get tourist all over the world visit the palace for the ghost story. Or two, to disgrace the Royal Family’s name,” explained Satoshi further.
Aiba got paler on each words.
“The story of the First King ghost who haunt when there was someone incompatible for the Royal Family sure will bring big commotion. People will start asking, who’s the incompatible one. This is not only you, Aiba-chan, but also for the King. You and him may be kicked out. Then who’ll get the benefit?”
Aiba hesitated. “It is...”
Suddenly the door of Aiba’s chamber knocked and a maid came in brought a tray of tea and snacks. “Excuse me Your Majesty, I bring you-“
“There’s no need of tea! I’m talking about something important here! I’ve told you nobody should come!” burst Aiba in anger. He rarely angry over something, so when he got angry like that it was really scary.
The maid then quickly bowed and said her sorry, then quickly closed the door too. Outside the room she got angry herself. She tried again to remember who said to her to bring the tea, but in no avail. It really such a wasted for a high quality tea like that. She sneakily sip the tea, and soon later a clank sound of something broken could be heard.
When Satoshi and Aiba opened the door, the maid already died. She laid on the floor with horor eyes and clutching her throat. Aiba quickly screamed for help, while Satoshi belately noticed: the maid drunk the tea which supposed to be served for the two of them.
It’s poisoned!
