That is that....

Good Morning,

I have precious few things left from my first marriage. Thinking about it now, I have almost nothing, or at least nothing important. The one thing I did have was a chunk of gold slag that were the rings my ex-wife gave to me. There was a promise ring and the wedding band. After the divorce I was angry, and to be honest I still am, and I didn't want those rings to be used or have meaning ever again, so I had them melted.

I had been sitting on them for close to 10 years now, a little less, and hadn't really thought about it much. It came up in conversation with my wife and I decided it was time to get rid of it. I don't know why I was holding on it, but it was having a bit of an effect. It was that little scab that wouldn't heal right.

I had inquired a few years back with the art college to see if they had wanted it, but they said it would have been too difficult to seperate the metals and wouldn't be worth it. We had it along with me as we were driving around and saw a little jewellery store on the side of MaCleod. I went in and walked out with cash for it.

This place had the x-ray machine that was needed to do a analysis of the gold and allow him to come up with a comfortable price for the two of us. It was easy enough process and apparently the only shop in calgary that had a x-ray analysis machine on site. It was cathartic to be honest. When I showed him the chunk he said that I must have been mad, I agreed. Really mad.

I didn't really think about it or how much of it I was still holding on to until that point. Done is done. Gone is gone.

Cheers,
Wayne
