Isobael 1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before? Started teaching RE (sunday school). Yeah, me, the non-theist, teaching sunday school!
2. Did you have any goals for the year? To get a MUCH Better federal job! Got to get OUT of ICE!!!
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Not close, but my aunt passed this fall. The good thing is that it was an opportunity for me to reconnect with my cousin.
5. What countries/interesting new places did you visit? Just Canada again. Went to Toronto, which has changed tremendously since Jeff and I used to go there just about every week in the 90's.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008? Federal benefits!!! Whee!
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Labor day weekend, my first weekend camping with the family at Allegany State Park! What a blast! Going back again this year! Anyone who wants to join us, let me know and I'll give you details so you can join us! Oh, and November 11, when I started working for Homeland Security. Only took them a year and half to actually hire me from the time of my interview. There's gov't efficiency for you! But I sure am glad to have those benefits and be able to have a whole week to camp this year!
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Passing my security clearance! Woo hoo!
9. What was your biggest failure? Well, like Oprah, I have slipped a little with my health and weight. But I'm ready for a new comeback!
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Just my migraines. But the topamax has helped tremendously!
11. What was the best thing you bought? And EnV phone for my son with buy one/get one, which means I have one too! So I can check my facebook & email at work since those sites are now blocked with my new job.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My boys, of course! What a stupid question!
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? Celebrities on TV, I guess... Couldn't tell you.
14. Where did most of your money go? What money?
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Camping! Yea! Since I can't go to the family cottage.. but that's another story for another day. But I am focusing on the good stuff!
16. What was the best month of 2008? 2008 was a very good year all around.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Right now, sadder. I'm very worried about my dad and upset about how my famly is reacting.
b) thinner or fatter? Fatter, but not for long!
c) richer or poorer? The same, but the debt is dissolving! And we are poised for good things to happen!
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? I wish I had spent more time with my friends, the ones who really mattered.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Spending time trying to please people who just don't matter that much.
20. How did you spend Christmas? Visiting family.
21. Did you fall in love in 2008? I'm always loving people.
22. What new interests did you develop in 2008? Nothing new, really. Okay, I've started really liking chillout music. Always liked it, just enjoying it more.
23. What was your favorite TV program? Heroes. But only because Lost was on hiatus.
24. What was the biggest surprise? That I liked camping so much!
25. What was the best book you read? Watership Down.

27. What did you want and get? A real federal job. Oh, be careful what you ask for! But now I'm focused on a different fed job!
28. What did you want and not get? A job with US Bankruptcy Court. But I blew the 2nd interview. Damn Damn Damn!
29. What was your favorite film of this year? Hmm.. Not too many out there. I guess Batman.
30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I don't recall, but I tured 43.
31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? My mom actually wanting the best care for my dad, rather than to just have him out of her way.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Obama inspired me.
35. What political issue stirred you the most? The 2008 presidential election was big, but what concerned me was the politics of hatred and how moved people I know were to pound tables and yell about muslims and blacks and racism.
36. Whom did you miss? Marie. Martin. Sue. Kitty. Zina. Other friends who don't have facebooks, never call, etc.
37. Who was the best new person you met? Sue at ICE.
