Happy Whatever Day!

Sorry, guys, that I've been so unfannish lately. I haven't even been keeping up with lj, which is about as close to radio silence as I get. But I got lots of cards, still--from morganmuffle and scarletswidow and and hpstrangelove, and tinkete's, which included a picture of her adorable baby.

This morning I got up super early (5 AM, yick) to sneakily read my Yuletide story before work, and it was totally worth it. (More on that in a minute.) And then Apollo and I snuck in a quick bareback hack before work--and before breakfast, which he was bitter about--and then presents with my family, brunch with my grandparents, more presents, and finally a couple of hours of freedom before the horses eat again. I did not, yet again, sneak up to the barn at midnight to check and see if all the horses knelt to praise Jesus, but some day I will manage to stay awake that long!

So, Yuletide--which is by far my favorite part of December. I wrote five full length stories and one stocking stuffer this year, topping all previous records for geekiness. And I got this amazing Lord John Grey story, Aid and Comfort. It's exactly what I asked for, only a thousand times better: Hal and John Grey, in the aftermath of Culloden, and grief and love and family. "It would in a way have been less shocking to catch them in some obscene act; he knew the vices of soldiers without any women, and for that matter the appetites of teenage boys. He could see that it was worse, as Johnny reached up to trace the curve of the older boy's mouth, leaning against him with their heads close together, devotion written in every line of his body. There was a heat in Johnny's eyes that Hal had never seen when his brother looked at a woman -- not once -- and all at once it had no longer been possible for Hal not to know the thing he had been trying not to know for some time."

Plus, there is Lymond-fic! Yay! And lots of it, too:

Endgame--Jerott, coming to terms with his feelings for Lymond.

Noughts and Crosses--Lymond/ Gabriel, and Jerott, watching, which is something I hadn't even really dared to dream about.

And The Time That Thou Hast Lost and Spent and Mon coeur se recommande a vous are both about Kate and Adam, set at the end of Checkmate, and they are very clearly written for the same prompt, and deal with it similarly, and yet are entirely different. Which is one of the most brilliant things about fanfic.

Hope you had a wonderful Tuesday.
