ZI GOT HIS ASS FIRED!

Dec 08, 2005 16:35

Today marked the end of my supposed one-year commitment to the stem cell lab - a premature termination if I may.

Yeah man, I got fired.

On one hand I am supposed to be super pissed, but on the other hand I am over-fkin-joyed.

So for the past quarter I have been continuing my summer research in the Weissman lab, destroying mice and looking at their little brain cells. I concede it was truly an educational ordeal, but one at the expense of my precious, PRECIOUS time - 15 hours a week. It might not seem much, but with another research position, bio and chem and engineering courses, and extracurriculars, it was fucking killer. I gave up my social life and handed it over on a pretty china platter to the lab wrapped in Asian skin and topped off with a gong-hay-fa-choi red bowtie.

My supervisor was insightful enough to see what was happening and decided that maybe I should seek another lab which may be more relevant to my major. She was really nice when she gave me the bad news, but this is one of those situations where you might never know what she reaally thought of you. In the back of my mind, I'm always going to wonder if she thought I was a complete dumbass or did our scheduling really not work out. She sugarcoated the situation by telling me a story about herself which was coicidentally exactly like this one - she committed to a year in a chem lab, stopped after a quarter after her prof convinced her it was not in her best interest. Well, deep in my heart I hope she is sincere.

So now, I have 15 hours of free time next quarter for every week. That's 150 free hours. I think Zi may go wild.

To those who despised my mice killing sprees, they have now officially ended. But that don't mean someone else ain't gonna guillotine their heads. Mua-ha-ha.
