My Solemn Vow (Part 3)

(Part 2)

“What is it?” Kame asked Ueda.

Ueda held out a cloth with a stain formed in words. “A letter for you, written in Junno’s blood.”

“What?” Kame grabbed the cloth. “Don’t you miss your friend? Your mate is next and as you know, that one doesn’t heal like your friend does.” Kame read aloud.

“Why is this rogue so persistent in getting to you?” Ueda scowled.

“Boredom, most probably. There’s only so much a vampire haven’t yet tried in all his lifetime. Fun runs out and craziness sinks in,” Arida, who had joined them as soon as she heard Ueda’s call, answered. “If I don’t have you guys constantly keeping me busy, I would have gone crazy too.”

“I have to get Junno. He’s mixed up in all this when it’s not his fault,” Kame decided.

“I’ll take him on. You stay here,” Arida tried to convince him.

“No. I started this fight so I’ll be the one to finish it. No one threatened my mate and gets away with it. Besides, I need all the best fighters here in Jin’s side. We don’t know what tricks this rogue has up his sleeve. I won’t take my chances on Jin’s safety,” Kame insisted.

Ueda and Arida both knew Kame was serious and nothing could change his mind so with heavy hearts, they let him go.

“Be careful, Kame,” Arida whispered solemnly.

Kame smiled at her and then his eyes sought out Jin. The human was not anywhere in sight. He sighed, removed his necklace and gave it to Arida. “Give the pendant to him.”

Arida nodded. “We’ll be waiting for you.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Where’s Kazuya?” Jin demanded as soon as he saw the other vampires enter the house.

Ueda and Arida exchanged a look. Finally, it was Ueda who answered. “He needed to finish a fight.”

“A fight? With a vampire?” Jin asked in alarm.

“Yes. The rogue vampire took Junno and threatened to take you as well. Kame wants to end this once and for all so that you’d be safe,” Ueda answered.

“But…alone? Why would he fight alone?! He might be injured or worse…”

“Isn’t that what you want? To get rid of the pesky monster that’s making your life a living hell?” Arida spat. “I heard your conversation, you know.”

“He’s not a monster!” Jin asked indignantly.

“And yet you fear him. Tell me, Jin. Why do you fear him so? Is it because you’re scared he’ll hurt you or are you just scared to admit you feel something for him as well?” Ueda taunted.

“I don’t know!” Jin exclaimed. “But I…I can’t let him die. I won’t!” He declared.

“There’s nothing you can do,” Arida said. “Vampires strength is determined by how old the vampire is. The older you are, the stronger you become. Kame is skilled but he’s only 73. The rogue vampire he hunted was around 500 years old.”

“So Kazuya will die?!” Jin asked in horror.

“Way to have faith,” Arida said wryly. “Kame might be weaker physically but he has something to protect so he’ll be determined to win.”

“Why can’t we go after him?” Jin demanded.

“Because you’ll be putting his effort to waste if you end up dead,” Arida said solemnly. “Here, Kame asked me to give this to you.” She handed him a ring. “He’d never admit it but just like the rest of us, he had been waiting for his soul mate so he had that made. He had been wearing it as a pendant since then.”

Jin turned the ring in his hand. “Kizuna…” he read the engraved word on the silver band.

“I’m not Japanese like the rest of our coven so I have no idea what it means,” Arida said. “But I do know that it would mean a lot for Kame if you wear that. It might not fit though. I have the feeling the size was for a girl’s finger.”

“Bond,” Jin whispered.

“What?” Arida asked.

The corners of Ueda’s lips lifted. He’s finally realizing the extent of a vampire’s love.

Jin lifted his head and ignored the tears spilling in his eyes. “Kizuna means ‘bond’.” He lifted his pinky finger where the silver ring had been placed. “And the ring fits perfectly on me.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Kame cursed as he was once again hit by the vampires he was fighting against. Junno, too, was busy fighting another set.

They had no idea the rogue vampire had a coven of his own - and a much bigger one at that. They had been attacked out of nowhere.

“You’re quite strong for a young vampire, pretty one,” a blond vampire cooed to Kame from his position on a sturdy tree branch. “Plus, you have a seductive body. I want to keep you for myself.” He clapped in childish excitement and his blue eyes glinted.

“Don’t be selfish, Sean,” a female vampire admonished from the ground. She looked up at Sean. “Let’s share.” Her red hair swayed as she laughed.

“Fuck off Maria.” Sean scowled. “You can have the tall one.” He gestured to Junno.

“Well, he is pretty cute,” she conceded.

“Speaking of cute, Kazuya’s mate is really cute as well. I bet he’d moan real loud as we rape him and suck all his blood. I wouldn’t mind sharing the human.” Sean grinned.

“Don’t you dare come near him!” Kame yelled. He’d die before they lay a hand on Jin. He’d protect him at all cost.

“Or what?” Maria sneered. “Let me tell you the future Kazuya Kamenashi. We’ll kill all your friends that are guarding your little mate and then we’ll enjoy feasting on the human. He’d scream as we violate him and drink all his blood until he’s dry. Then we’ll keep you and this tall one with us and make you our very own toy.”

“Well said, Maria,” Sean praised. “Let’s go?”

“Fuck you! You’ll never succeed! You’ll be defeated!”

Sean and Maria chuckled.

“Keep on believing that, young one,” Sean said as he and Maria disappeared on lightning speed.

“Leave them alone!” Kame shouted to no avail. In his anger, he was able to catch an enemy vampire and snap his head off. “Junno!” he called.

“A little busy here, Kame!” Junno said.

I’ll distract them. Find Tackey and tell him what happened. He must be somewhere near now. I can feel him. Hurry!

Junno looked at Kame for a second and his face dropped into a serious one. Be careful.

He then darted away from the vampire who was restricting him and ran away from the place. If there’s one thing that was good about Junno, it was his speed. He could travel faster than any vampire in Tackey’s coven.

The other vampires tried to follow Junno but Kame blocked them all. Please be safe, Jin. Live. Live and I won’t regret paying the price for it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

“Little human…come out, come out, wherever you are,” Maria said in a sing-song voice.

“We can hear your heartbeat, you know,” Sean added.

I thought there was only one rogue? Maru asked Arida.

Kame thought so too. I knew that couldn’t be the case. A vampire that old must have turned some people. Arida frowned and signaled for Kristine and Jin to crouch low. They had only sensed the vampires approaching when they were only several feet away from the house. They were very stealthy and could mask their presence well. None the less, they were able to at least gather everyone - Jin and Kristine in the middle - in one place for safety reasons.

“Oh? There’s two separate hearts,” Maria commented. “A bonus, Sean!”

Koki stiffened and Ueda looked at him sharply. They knew the rogues were talking about Kristine. Don’t do anything stupid.

I won’t. Koki promised.

Just then the front door was broken by a loud smash and all hell broke loose.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

“Tackey!” Junno yelled.

“I know,” Tackey said without Junno having to tell him anything. “I sensed evil as soon as I came back. Let’s go.”

They fled to their coven.

The scene they arrived in was terrifying even for a vampire. Koki and Maru were slumped on the floor, bleeding and unconscious. Wood was staked through both of their hearts. Beside them, Kristine was sobbing uncontrollably and a human boy Tackey did not recognize was staring blankly at the scene. He was clearly in shock. Ueda and Arida were fighting two vampires. They managed to wound both but they were still clearly losing.

With his energy masking his and Junno’s presence, Tackey attacked both vampires that were trying to kill his own. Two heads literally rolled on the floor as he swiftly ended the fight.

The human boy screamed and cowered in fear. He stood up and ran away, his whole body shaking.

“Thanks, Tackey,” Ueda said.

“Welcome back,” Arida said drily as she pulled the wood from both Koki and Maru’s hearts. She let Tackey feed the two his blood while she turned to Kristine, who was still crying. “They’ll be fine Kristine. The wood stunted their regenerative powers but they’ll be awake soon now that the wood is removed and Tackey gave them his blood.”

“Seriously, I leave you for one minute and this is what I return to?” Tackey exclaimed, exasperated. “My house looks terrible!”

Ueda snorted. “Your house can be cleaned and you were gone for two years Tackey, not a minute.”

“Has it been that long?” Tackey gasped dramatically.

“Um, shouldn’t we be going after Jin?”

“He’ll be fine. I sensed Kame returning. They’ll need their privacy,” Arida smiled. Despite whatever happened tonight, she wasn’t shaken. Well, part of it was because blood and gore was basically a vampire’s life. It wasn’t anything new. But mostly, she was just glad her coven, her family, was whole again.
She listened to Jin’s footsteps not far away and smiled. Soon, there would be an addition to the family too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kame slowed down. He had been badly hurt so he wasn’t healing as fast as he’d like. Jin…please be safe.

Just then, he heard footsteps and ragged breathing. His eyes lit up as he was able to see his mate from afar. He smiled. “Jin…” he whispered.

As if he heard him - which couldn’t be the case because he was still out of human hearing range - Jin turned to him and gasped as he saw him. “Kazuya!”

Kame sped to his mate and embraced him. He didn’t care if Jin didn’t like him. He didn’t care that Jin couldn’t accept him as his mate. “I’m so glad you’re safe.”

“Kazuya, there were heads cut off and the blood…there was so much blood,” Jin rambled.

Kazuya tightened his arms around Jin’s trembling form. He knew Jin was scared and possibly traumatized. “I’m sorry you had to see what you had to see tonight.” He wondered what happened. He felt sadness at the thought that one of his friends might have died. But right now, Jin was his priority. “You’re safe now, Jin. I won’t let anything happen to you. I love you,” Kame said sincerely.

Jin didn’t return his admission of love but reached for Kame’s lips and kissed him. The kiss was passionate and it left Kame wanting more. But he didn’t want to rush Jin so he pulled slowly away from Jin’s lips and smiled gently at him. “Let’s go back to the house. I’m sure they had cleaned it up by now so you don’t need to worry. Besides, you need your sleep.”

“They had been telling me that since you left. I’m not sleepy,” Jin insisted but the effect was ruined when he yawned.

Kame laughed. “Sure, Jin.” He laced their hands and his heart soared when Jin didn’t pull his hands away. They walked in silence until they reached the house.

Jin pulled away from Kame and walked ahead. Kame shook his head to get rid of the lonely feelings.

Jin stopped and turned. “By the way, you should have given this to me personally.” He raised his hand and Kame was puzzled for a moment before his eyes landed on the ring on Jin’s pinky finger.

He gasped and Jin grinned cheekily.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jin woke up wondering why he felt so tired. Then he remembered last night’s events - having an argument with Kazuya, getting attacked by evil vampires, getting saved by Kazuya’s friends, the kiss…

His cheeks burned. He didn’t know why he kissed Kazuya either. When Kazuya told him he loves him, his heart missed a beat and when he looked at him, Kazuya’s eyes looked so tempting that he simply did what his heart and soul told him and kissed him. And damn if he didn’t enjoy it! Kazuya was an excellent kisser. He could still feel the feel of his soft lips against his and-

He groaned because he could feel himself getting aroused by just the memory of the kiss. Get a grip, Jin.

He took a cold shower in the restroom Kazuya showed him before he left him to sleep last night. When he was done, he felt a lot calmer. He didn’t bring any of his clothes so he had to wear the same clothes he had last night. He glanced at the bedside table and saw a note there.

“Good morning, Jin. Most likely, we’re all asleep by the time you’re awake. I left the keys of my car. You can go home if you want. - Kazuya.”

Jin frowned. “That’s it?” Then he bashed himself for thinking that way. What? Did you want him to write ‘I love you’?

He shook his head and grabbed the car keys and headed out of the house. He had no idea what time it was but by the sun high on the sky, he was guessing it was late morning or early afternoon.

When he reached his apartment, he was surprised to find Farrah, his girlfriend, waiting for him. Oh shoot! I completely forgot about her!

“Where have you been, Jin?! I was so worried about you!” Farrah exclaimed.

“To a friend’s house,” he answered guiltily. He had a girlfriend and yet he completely forgot her in favor of Kazuya’s sweet lips.

“You should have called me!” Farrah frowned.

“I know and I’m sorry. Look, why don’t we talk inside?” He asked her.

“Fine,” she huffed but she paused when she saw his car. “You bought a new car?”

“No. I borrowed it from my…friend.” For some reason, he felt guilty in calling Kazuya a ‘friend’ but that was what they were right? Friends don’t just kiss like you did last night, his mind teased.

If Farrah noticed the pause in his sentence, she didn’t comment on it. Instead, she sighed. “As I thought, I can’t let this drag on. Jin, the reason I was looking for you is because…I’m breaking up with you.”

“Huh?” was all Jin was able to say.

“I’m really really sorry! I met this amazing guy and he just swept me off my feet but I’d never, never cheat on you so I decided to break up with you,” she said in a rush.

“If that’s what you want,” he said.

Farrah beamed a smile that showed her dimples, a smile that used to attract Jin every time but now he didn’t feel anything. He wondered if it was because he could see Kazuya’s timid smile in his head.

Jin let Farrah hug him, kiss him on his cheek and murmur her thanks before she walked away.

Strangely, all Jin felt was relief.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jin turned off the ignition of Kazuya’s car and nervously touched the small box in his pocket. It was late night so he knew Kazuya was already awake. The gift he wanted to give the vampire took longer than expected so he was only able to return now.

He took a deep breath and stepped out of the car. Come on Jin. Be a man. It was a little ironic given the circumstances but what the heck.

No one greeted him as he cautiously entered the house but he could hear voices in the living room so he went there. All but Kazuya was present.

“Um, hi,” he said tentatively.

“If you’re looking for Kame, you’re too late. He left earlier to find his soul mate,” Koki said in a bored tone.

“I’m his soul mate,” Jin declared, surprising even himself in the conviction of his voice.

“You were so intent in denying it before,” Ueda mocked. “Well lucky for you human, he was wrong.”

“You weren’t his soul mate and as Koki said, he’s out looking for his real soul mate now,” a tall man Jin did not recognize piped, smiling like an idiot (in Jin’s opinion).

“Junno’s right. You should leave. Only our own coven and the mate of any of us are allowed here. You’re neither so…” Arida shrugged.

“Arida,” Maru spoke worriedly but shut up the moment Tackey sent him a look.

Jin put one of his hands in his pocket and gripped the box there tightly. No, he couldn’t accept this. Kazuya was his. Kazuya loves him.

“Where is he?” He demanded. Later, he’d realize it was kind of stupid to demand something from a house full of vampire but at that moment, he really didn’t care. He needed to find Kazuya.

“Human, we’ll tell you nothing,” Tackey said.

“WHERE IS HE?!” he bellowed angrily.

“Jin?” came a voice from the hallway. Then Kazuya entered the living room. “Why are you shouting?”

“I-” but Jin’s words was cut off by a whining man who entered the living room after Kazuya and placed his arm on the confused vampire’s shoulder.

“Kazu, don’t leave me alone,” the brown-haired vampire whined.

“Yamapi, you’re acting really strange,” Kame said worriedly. “Are you sure you’re all right?” He placed his hand on Yamapi’s cheek.

Jin saw red. He stomped towards Kazuya and the guy clinging to him and glared. “Is he the one? Your soul mate?” His anger was replaced by deep anguish and he stared at Kazuya accusingly. “Why did you mess up my life, my emotions if you weren’t going to take responsibility? Why?!”

“What are you talking about Jin?” Kame was very confused. He shrugged off Yamapi’s arm around his shoulder and wiped Jin’s tears. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m sorry I insulted you when you first told me I was yours. I’m sorry I thought you would hurt me. I’m sorry I didn’t say anything when you told me you love me. I’ll make it up to you, I promise. So will you take me back? I’m sure I’m your soul mate. You told me you love me right?” Jin was desperate and he knew anyone in the room can feel it. He couldn’t lose Kazuya. Not now that he’d already realized how precious he was to him.

“What the hell is happening?” Kazuya demanded, tired of feeling so lost.

“They told me I’m not really your soul mate. They told me…they told me you went looking for your real soul mate,” Jin cried. “That’s not true right, Kazuya? I’m your soul mate right?”

“Of course you are Jin. I had never been more sure as when you kissed me,” Kazuya firmly said.

“He kissed you?” Arida asked, pleased.

Kame faced his coven. “Yes.” He crossed his arms. “Now who told him all these not-being-my-soul-mate nonsense?”

“It was Tackey’s idea!” Koki quickly said.

Tackey shrugged. “He deserved that for hurting you. No one insults my fledgling and gets away from it. Although that said fledgling just caused me a sex-ban from my soul mate. Tsubasa’s pissed as hell that we had to cut short our vacation.” He winced.

“Don’t worry about it, Tackey. My maker won’t be able to resist you for long. You know that. Well, I guess my job here is done. Bye Kame-chan! Have fun with your mate!” Yamapi grinned and left.

“What’s a fledgling?” Jin whispered to Kazuya.

“That’s what vampires call the people they had turned into vampires. We call the ones who had turned us ‘maker’.” Kame embraced Jin but then he inhaled his scent and immediately noticed a girl’s scent on him. “Were you with a girl, Jin?” He frowned. He thought Jin’s babbling earlier meant he loves him. Was he wrong?

“I swear it was innocent! My girlfriend broke up with me and she thanked me by hugging me and kissing my cheek when I let her go,” Jin explained, gripping Kazuya’s hand.

Kame’s frown didn’t disappear. “Oh so I’m just a rebound?”

Jin placed his hands on either side of Kame’s face and stared at his eyes. “You are more precious to me than anyone, Kazuya Kamenashi. If Farrah haven’t beaten me to it, I would have broken up with her first. I want to be with you. I love you, Kazuya.”

“Awww,” Arida gushed and the others hushed her.

Kame though, only heard and saw Jin. “I love you too, Jin.”

“Oh, there’s something I wanted to give you.” Jin bit his lips nervously as he took the box from his pocket and opened it in front of Kazuya.

Kame gasped. In the box was a silver ring, similar to the one he had given to Jin but the word that was engraved there was ‘care’. “It’s beautiful.”

Jin smiled. He took off the ring Kazuya gave him and placed it on Kazuya’s right hand. He then got the ring he bought, took Kazuya’s left hand and slid the ring slowly on Kazuya’s left pinky. “I, Jin Akanishi, do solemnly swear to take you, Kazuya Kamenashi, to be my partner, loving what I know of you, and trusting what I do not yet know. I eagerly anticipate the chance to grow together, getting to know the man you will become, and falling in love a little more every day. I promise to love and cherish you through whatever life may bring us.”

Kame was crying by the time Jin finished speaking. “Jin…”

“It’s your turn,” Jin said shyly, his cheeks burning.

Kame smiled through his tears. “Jin Akanishi, from the moment I first saw you, I knew you were the one with whom I wanted to share my life. Your beauty, heart, and mind inspire me to be the best person I can be. I promise to love you for eternity, respecting you, honoring you, being faithful to you, and sharing my life with you. This is my solemn vow.” He placed the ring he gave Jin back on the man’s left pinky.

“Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you, for where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your beliefs will be my beliefs. And where you die, I will die and there I will be buried. May the most vicious vampires do with me and more if anything but death parts you from me,” Jin vowed.

“Entreat me not to leave you, or to return from following after you, for where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your beliefs will be my beliefs. And where you die, I will die and there I will be buried. May the most vicious vampires do with me and more if anything but death parts you from me,” Kame repeated. He pulled Jin close and kissed him.

“Did we just witness a wedding?” Maru asked, wide-eyed.

“I believe we did,” Ueda said, a smile playing on his lips. He was glad Kame had found his soul mate and was now truly happy.

Tackey wiped his teary eyes with his hand. “My youngest married so early.”

“They look so in love,” Arida said, her eyes shining with tears at the touching exchange of vows between the two.

“I can’t believe he married before me,” Koki grumbled.

“Hey, if they’re married now then that means they’re going to have their honeymoon,” Junno commented.

“…Bye guys!” Koki bolted out the door. There’s no way he’ll be at home together with the two honeymooners.

“Let’s give them some privacy,” Ueda said and dragged Tackey and Arida out of the house.

“Let’s go too Junno. Kame might mark Jin today, you’re still a bit sensitive to blood,” Maru said.

Junno shrugged and followed Maru.

Back in the house, Jin and Kazuya did not even notice that they were alone. They were so intent on each other.

“I’m so glad I drove that car while I was drunk and nearly collided to you. It led me to my soul mate,” Jin said to Kazuya, grinning.

“That was you?!” Kame asked surprised. “Wait how did you know I was the person you almost hit? Did you recognize me?”

“Unfortunately, no. Arida told me about the day you knew you found your soul mate. I put things together and realized you were the man I almost hit that night. I’m sorry, I could have hurt you,” Jin apologized.

Kame snorted. “Jin, the only thing that would have been hurt was your car. I have vampire strength remember?”

“Oh right. I wanted to ask you how you made it out of the fight with the other vampires last night with just minor scratches. You must be pretty awesome,” Jin said with admiration.

Kame laughed. “Well, those scratches were full out wounds before. They just healed on my way here. But yeah, considering I won against 10 vampires, I was lucky I lived. I wanted to return to you so badly.” He looked at Jin and licked his lips slowly, his hands trailing to Jin’s chest seductively. “Why don’t I show you just how awesome I can be, Jin?”

Jin bit back a groan. The pleasurable heat was spreading throughout his body from just Kazuya’s teasing. “Yes, Kazuya. Show me.”

“Gladly, my love,” Kazuya said. He carried Jin to his bedroom.

His soul mate had finally accepted him.

It’s time to enjoy the benefits.

Did you like it? I hope you did :)

Anyway, just to clarify, Kame's name gets switched a lot from 'Kazuya' to 'Kame' depending on whose point of view it is said/thought

Comment are love! ^^
