Don't stop the music tonight!

It's practically impossible to get Initial D tickets in KL, thanks to the fact that GSC is not screening it AT ALL.

But guess who had a former classmate working in the cinema and managed to get herself 3 tickets in a decent row of seats? Go on, guess. :D

Let's see, where do I start? If I was being unbiased, I wouldn't call it a brilliant movie, per se.

Unfortunately, I am awfully biased and easily swayed by pretty faces. Yeah, I enjoyed it. Jay Chou's acting was mediocre at best BUT he's forgiven seeing as it was his debut. I've seen worse acting by so-called veterans. Besides, he's amusing and slashable.

(See: Ryosuke x Nakazato x Takumi and Bunta x Takumi)

Bunta, I was kinda wavering on. Anthony Wong did a good job and he’s such a hip middle-aged man. However, I didn’t like how the movie portrayed him as a drunk child abuser. Bunta may consume loads of sake but he does not abuse Takumi!

Chapman To as Itsuki looks and acts the part. He wins at the Initial D movie kthx. Fun cheong! (haha, inside joke :P)

Shawn Yue and Edison Chen as the Myogi Nightkid’s Nakazato Takeshi and Takahashi Ryosuke respectively are ♥. I was distracted by their shiny prettiness and how they obviously WANT EACH OTHER and TAKUMI.

Jordan Chan’s character, Sudo Kyouichi, I didn’t care too much about, even in the anime. Flashy and arrogant and blah, quite the run-of-the-mill antagonist. (Ok, he’s also ugly. I’m not shallow.)

Now, the part I’m sure everyone’s been waiting for… the car races. For most part, the races were quite well done but I didn’t quite like the camera angles the directors shot them from - made me dizzy (or maybe that’s the point?). The last battle between Sudo, Ryosuke and Takumi was pretty unbelievable. Literally. I won’t spoil it at all but, duh, are the directors for real?

The movie score was uninspiring. It doesn’t have the same feel the anime had with the adrenaline-inducing Eurobeat music. I thought that the song which Jay wrote for the sad/romantic part of the movie was bland in comparison to most of his other songs.

It does sound like I’m nitpicking a lot but in all honesty, if anyone asked me to watch it with them a second time, I would. (Yay for leen-chan and teh pooh pooh)

hot guys, initial d
