Much belated update! also: who wants to go see the Eagle?

Since last we spoke, I have:
1. Finished my dissertation and graduated! Woo, I am Dr. Me! (Alternatively: Me, PhD.)
2. Moved to NYC for my postdoc! ...sometimes when I think about this, I am kind of impressed with my guts. Also: very very lucky that my family is supportive!
3. Been v. busy. Dear academia: why so difficult? SIGH.
4. Made new friends! I find it very interesting to consider the timelines, methods, and thresholds for establishing a social network after re-locating. I mean, from a practical perspective, but also from an empirical perspective. Do people who are more sociable/affiliative make more friends faster? But do they need more friends before they are satisfied with their network? Someday I will study this, I think...
5. Hung out with fangirls! leupagus organized a couple of fangirl meetups, which were both a lot of fun!
And on that topic: is anyone interested in going to see The Eagle at the AMC Loews Village 7 tomorrow at 7:00? Say, meet up at the theatre at 6:30? I will be there, and leupagus has also said that she's in, but the more the merrier! Let me know, so that I know to look for you! :)
