[ Sloshing water. Someone sloshing THROUGH it rather, the sound of. ]

A bit of a mess, isn't it?

Still nothing worth panicking over after all, and that's very good.

Christopher, the cellar has become a well. I'm thinking we could keep it like this.

I suppose it does save us the trouble of putting a swimming pool in the garden.

Not particularly, but we may as well keep it now it's there.

It's quite fortunate that we hadn't thought to store anything down there.

[ as he has fully recovered his memory now of his previous stay, though of course with some blurriness for sheer time, he is relatively certain of this ]

Er....we didn't....right?

Well, unless you took to keeping photography equipment down there without telling me about it, then no, we didn't.

Oh, well then. Wonderful.

[ pause ]

I didn't think you would resort to storing your clothing down there, but it felt appropriate to ask all the same.

Goodness no, think of the damp.

...did you really mean for us to keep it this way?

yes. no wait. conrad will do that FOR him 8)))))))) iseemore October 4 2010, 21:18:16 UTC
Perhaps there may be a use for it. Think of how much trouble it would be to refill it later if we changed our minds after draining it.

Summoning some water from the sea shouldn't be that difficult. And besides, leaving the cellar underwater can't be good for the house's foundations.

We could work up some sort of protective barrier, couldn't we?

Though likely we could use that space for actual storage someday.

[ sigh ]

Well what do we do with it then? Transport it to the ocean here? Water the forest?

I think we've modified the house enough for this year. Or possibly this century.

I don't suppose there there's some sort of pumping service being offered? Ours can't be the only house that was flooded. [Grant's always insisting on not taking the easy way out with magic, after all.]

True, true.

...I suppose I could ask...though this may be one of the exceptions to not using magic. It's practical in this case, and if we let someone else do it there may be damages that we can avoid or prevent.

I'm all for any solution that doesn't have us bailing the cellar out with buckets and which doesn't involve the swimming pool accidentally ending up in one of the bedrooms instead.
