Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chpater 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 Turning the radio down Chloe turned in her seat to look at Jimmy. When she had agreed to come out with him to check out a story she hadn’t realised that they were going to be parking at a make out point. If she had known they were coming here she would have brought Oliver with her. Then it would have been more fun while waiting for whatever the story was.
“What are we doing here?” Chloe asked.
“Well I don’t exactly know. I got this hot tip that there’s something weird going on up here and I thought it might make a good story.” Jimmy replied with a shrug.
“And by weird you mean two people at make out point not making out?”
“You’re right. You know what? We’re undercover. We should probably be a little more convincing.”
Chloe laughed, “If you’re putting the moves on me you should stop.”
“I don’t want to,” Jimmy whispered, leaning forward to kiss her.
Moving away Chloe gave a little laugh, “Um... Slow down there hot shot. I have a boyfriend.”
Jimmy looked stunned, “Since when?”
“Since a couple of days ago. We’ve been dating for a couple of months but we finally had the exclusivity talk and we’re going to make a go of it.” Chloe said, “I’m sorry if I led you on in anyway. I didn’t mean too. I didn’t even realise I was flirting with you until a week ago.”
“Fine Chloe,” Jimmy whispered staring straight out the front window, “As long as he makes you happy.”
“So happy,” Chloe replied, a silly little grin on her face. Before she could say anything else though there was a scream from the woods to the right, “What was that?” she asked, pulling the door open, “It came from the path over there. Come on!”
“Oh yeah we should definitely go check that out in the really dark woods,” Jimmy said sarcastically as he got out of the car as well.
“Let’s go,” Chloe called as she walked over to the woods. Following the path she pulled out her torch to help guiding the way.
Sighing Jimmy said, “Why would anyone want to wander in the woods?”
“Why would anyone bring someone to a make out spot and not want to go skinny dipping?” Chloe replied, “If Ollie was here we’d be heading for the lake,” flashing the torch down another path, “It’s down there.”
“This is a bad idea,” Jimmy whispered cowering behind Chloe as a rustle came from the left, “You know what maybe we should call someone.”
Chloe rolled her eyes before calling out, “Hello! Is anyone there?!”
“You see I was thinking more along the lines of an authority figure who carries a weapon.”
“Thanks,” Chloe replied sarcastically, “Looks like the trail ends here.” She continued pointing the flashlight around.
Reaching out and stopping it at a point Jimmy said, “Is that...”
“Oh my god!”

Walking out of the elevator when it reached Oliver’s floor Chloe smiled at his assistant before pointing at the door, “Can I go in?”
“Of course you can Miss Sullivan. He should be doing his morning yoga.” Miss Button, Oliver’s assistant, replied.
“Looks like I showed up for the right part of the day,” Chloe muttered to herself while opening the door. Closing it softly behind her she saw Oliver doing a handstand topless. Smiling she said, “If this is how you greet all your guests I’ve got to drop by more often.”
Chuckling Oliver dropped down onto his feet before turning to face her, “Well I’m sure if they understood the wonders it did for my focus they’d be ok with it.”
Walking over and kissing him softly she smiled before saying, “Ah, well it can’t hurt your other job.”
“No it doesn’t. Maybe you’ll have to try it sometime.”
Chloe laughed, “Please I have no need to be flexible.”
Shaking his head Oliver kissed her again before saying, “I need a favour.”
Chloe raised an eyebrow at him, “A fun kind of favour or a hero kind of favour?”
“I need a date Lex Luthor’s Dark Thursday ball kind of favour.”
“You want me to go to a ball?”
Oliver shrugged, “Why not? We’re in a relationship now Chloe that comes with certain responsibilities when you’re dating me.”
“Well I don’t have a costume.” Chloe said.
Oliver laughed before walking over to his desk and picking up a white box, “Well her you go. Any other reason you shouldn’t come with me?”
Opening the box Chloe was stunned by the green velvet costume she saw there. Pulling it out she was stunned by the colour. The shade of green was an exquisite emerald colour. It had white and gold ribbon around the collar and a slit down the front was covered in with white material the same shade as the ribbon around the collar. Around the waist was a wider piece of the gold ribbon.
Smiling she turned to him, “It’s even my size. Mr Queen, have you been rummaging through me drawers?”
Oliver laughed, kissing her lightly on the lips before saying, “I have a good eye for sizing people up.”
“Obviously.”
“Well this is what I want you to do. Take the costume, go home and spend some time with Lois,” Oliver said, running a hand down her arm. “Just know that I don’t want to hide our relationship, ever. I’m not ashamed to be with you Chloe and more importantly I want the whole world to know how happy you make me. So if you come then I’ll take that as your ready to let everyone know about use, even though it won’t be easy at times. If you don’t then I don’t know.”
“If I don’t,” Chloe whispered, “Would we be over?”
“I don’t know,” Oliver replied, “Would you want us to be over? ‘Cause it is one thing to say you want to be my girlfriend but it’s another things actually act like my girlfriend.”
Chloe picked the box up before kissing him lightly on the lips, “No matter what I decide just know it has nothing to do with my feelings for you,” she said before leaving.
***********
Sitting on her lounge staring at the box with the costume in it, Chloe couldn’t make up her mind. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be with Oliver, she did. It was just that she wasn’t sure she could take the life style that came with having a public relationship with a billionaire. As it was she wasn’t sure how the paparazzi hadn’t caught hold of them already. Was she really ready to deal with the press on a constant basis? She knew that she was really one of the better members of the press now but it had taken a lot to get her to that place and a lot of other reporters never got to that place.
Hearing a knock at her door she stood to answering. Smiling when she saw that Lana was there she opened the door further, “Hey.”
“Hi,” Lana said as she entered the apartment, “So it was such a rush to evacuate the dorms. I guess I took a few of your things,” she continued handing over a book and eraser.
“Thanks,” Chloe said with a little laugh, taking the items from her, “Oh, wow, I was really missing this... half chewed eraser and your library book, which happens to be two weeks overdue.”
Lana sighed, “I don’t know why but I felt like I needed an excuse to come and talk with you.”
“Excuse accepted,” Chloe said moving to the kitchen and switching on the coffee machine, “Coffee?”
“I’d love some,” Lana replied as she moved around the kitchen, “It feels like a lifetime since I lived here.”
“Yeah well, a sprawling 17th century mansion isn’t a bad upgrade.” Chloe said with a sly grin.
“Well, actually, it’s getting kind of crowded in there.” Lana laughed as Chloe brought over the coffee and sat back down on the couch.
“So what really bring you here?”
Collapsing onto the couch Lana looked up at the ceiling and said, “Lex seems to think that I’m dragging Clark’s ghost around with me.”
Chloe nodded, “And he didn’t sign up for a threesome?”
“I have a terrible feeling,” Lana replied, “I feel like if I do this with Lex, I’m going to lose my identity.”
“Well, Lana, if you don’t trust him now, that dynamic is not going to change.” Chloe said glancing at the box on the table again, a moment of clarity hitting her.
“It’s just I keep blaming my trust issues on everyone else. And the truth is, the person that I don’t trust is myself. I keep...” Lana sighed, “I haven’t always made the right decisions. And when I realize that I have made the wrong ones, I’m too far gone to get myself out.”
Chloe nodded while shooting a sly message to Lois, “Lana, I don’t know if Lex is the right guy for you or not. I mean he certainly wouldn’t be my first choice, he wouldn’t even really be on my list, but you can’t just sit safely forever and watch all the happy people pass you by. I mean eventually you’re going to have to trust yourself to take that leap.”
Leaving Lana lost in her thoughts she looked at her phone when it went off and smiled. It just said one word.

Adjusting the wig one more time Chloe stepped out of the car. Looking around she was surprised to see that there was no paparazzi around but she was running late so they were probably inside by now. She had planned to arrive on time but Lois had insisted on one last touch to her costume before letting her go and it had taken her half an hour to find and apply. Stepping through the door she looked around. The place was beautiful and she could believe she got to see it. Seeing the press at the end of the hall she took a deep breath and walked towards them. Ignoring the minimal flashes that went off she stepped into the ballroom and looked around, trying to find Oliver. Looking to her left she finally saw him.
Moving towards him she ran a hand down his arm. Watching his expression as he turned she smiled and said, “Sorry I’m late.”
Looking into his eyes she watched the emotion that passed through them. It made her happy that she had that kind of effect on him. Confusion crossed her face as his hand came up to the veil that was over her head. Remembering the wig that Lois had decided would just make the outfit she said, “It was Lois’s idea. You know there has never been a blond maid Marion so she figured we needed to make sure that I didn’t change the stereotype.”
Smiling she watched him carefully as he pulled the veil off her head before handing it too her and returning his hand to her hair. Carefully pulling out all the bobby pins he finally took the wig off her head before handing both the veil and wig to a passing waiter.
“That’s better,” he whispered, “There’s my girlfriend.”
Confused, she opened her mouth to say something but before she could he pulled her into a kiss. Smiling she allowed him to deepen it slowly as the press began to gather around them.
Pulling back shyly she said, “Why did you do that?”
Running a hand over her cheek gently he said, “Because I want you Chloe, whether you fit the stereotype or not.”
Smiling she pulled his lips back to hers no longer caring that the press were taking as many photos as they could. She was just happy to be there with Oliver. She could see the headlines now though: ‘Star City Bachelor off the market?’ For some reason though it really didn’t bother her as much as she thought that it would.

Later on in the evening Oliver stood looking at the stage as the lead singer was introducing the band, Chloe’s back to his front as his arms were resting around his waist and his head was sitting on hers. He couldn’t help but feel that that was one of his favourite parts of their relationship, the fact that his body literally encompassed hers, and he knew it was a little sad but he’d never had that with anyone before. It was like she completed that part of him.
“Welcome,” The lead singer said from his microphone at the stage, “To the First Annual Benefit Ball for the victims of Dark Thursday. On behalf of Lex Luther, we’d like to thank everybody for reaching into your pockets and supporting the families affected by this disaster. You guy rock.”
Finally starting to play their instruments Oliver smiled and placed a kiss on Chloe’s cheek.
“What was that for?” she asked.
“It was just because I wanted too.” He said with a smile as a reporter walked over to where they were.
“Is it possible to get a quote from either of you?” she asked.
Watching as Chloe smiled he couldn’t believe it when she opened her mouth and said, “It’s a great event for a good cause and I know we are both honoured to be here,” before taking his hand pulling him away.
“That was impressive,” Oliver said in awe, “But you do know that she wanted a quote on our relationship right?”
Chloe laughed, “Yeah but I wasn’t going to give it to her. She has to work a little harder than that.”
“Well I was just going to say no comment.”
“Now I see why you need me here. You have no ability to talk to reporters who aren’t me.” Chloe said, “But if that doesn’t make you happy you should know you are totally pulling off those tights.”
Laughing Lex and Lana interrupted, “You should see him in a tutu.”
Giving Chloe a tight smile Oliver turned to Lex and said, “Lex Luther. With a girl he doesn’t have to inflate.”
Laughing again Lex replied, “Lana Lang, Oliver Queen, we went to boarding school together.”
“Talked to any of the old gang lately?” Oliver asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Just so you know Chloe you can do so much better. Enjoy the party,” Lex sneered before pulling Lana away.
Turning back to Chloe he noticed her raised eyebrow, “Ask your question.”
“It’s not really a question, more of a statement. I just didn’t realise that there was someone who Lex hated more than me,” Chloe replied with a grin.
Oliver chuckled before pulling her towards the dance floor, “Let’s dance and discuss this mutual hatred we both have for Lex that has never come up before.”
*********
“You do realise that you can’t return this now?” Chloe asked.
Oliver laughed, “Yeah I know. That was the plan,” he said wrapping his arms around her. Pausing in the kitchen he continued, “Chloe. We’re at a really good place at the moment and I don’t want to ruin that by having secrets.”
“That sounds like a good plan.”
“Well there’s someone you have to meet.” Oliver said while picking up his phone. Dialling a number he wanted for the person on the other side of the call to pick up before saying, “Hey can you come to the penthouse... See you soon.”
“Ok so who’s this person?” Chloe asked her curiosity sparking.
“Well...”
“Chlolicious,” the man called. Spinning around in Oliver’s arms she was shocked to be greeted by the smiling face of Bart Allen.
“Bart!” Chloe said before turning back to Oliver, “How do you know Bart?”
“Well Bossman here...” Bart started stopping when he saw the look that Oliver was shooting him.
“That’s all I needed you for Bart. Don’t you have to patrol in an hour?” Oliver said. Waiting until Bart had left he led Chloe over to the couch. Taking a seat next to her he explained, “A while ago I had this idea of creating a team of superheroes. Bart’s the first person that I’ve actually got to join.”
“Wow. How’d you meet Bart?”
“Do you remember after our first date how I went to Star City for two weeks?” Oliver asked.
“Yeah,” Chloe nodded, “Why?”
“Well I was patrolling one night the first week there when I saw Bart steal a meal. He moved so fast I thought I was imagining it but then I saw him do it again the next night. So I followed him and asked him what he was doing. He was a little unresponsive at first but after I got another meal into him he warmed up to me a bit. Heard me out and decided to join the team. He’s the first member.”
“That’s so cool,” Chloe whispered, placing a kiss to his jaw.
“Though there’s another member now. He joined the other day,” Oliver said.
“Oh, who? Maybe I know them too.”
“Probably, he was here a few months ago. His name is Victor Stone.”
“Oh my God, Cyberman.”
“So you did meet him?” Oliver said with a little chuckle, not really surprised.
“Meet him, I helped to save him.”
“Well I approached him when he was here but he didn’t want to join. I told him I’d be patrolling in Metropolis for a while and if he changed his mind he just had to find me. Two weeks ago he did.”
“So there are three of you now?”
“Yeah.”
“Ok, two things. One does your group have a name and two can I help?”
Oliver smiled and kissed her gently before saying, “I’m working on the name for the group. I think the word justice should be in the title, other than that I don’t know. Two, if you think you can and you want too I’m more than happy for you to help. I’d love it if you helped out.”
“Great,” Chloe said before taking his hand as she stood up, “Let’s talk details tomorrow morning, ok?”
“Ok,” he said allowing her guide them up to the bedroom.
