My response to Meg

Well, it's not really out of my comfort zone, but I'll blog about my general life. :o)

I like school. I love my program. Temple is an established and respected school psychology programs, so I feel lucky to be here. Even more, I love my cohort; we have some great times together. My faculty is a lot of fun too; knowledgeable but goofy. Currently, I'm working on narrowing down a dissertation topic; it's harder than I expected! This means I've been reading a lot of research articles and trying to find out where the research gaps are, while not creating such an elaborate project that it will be difficult to implement/finish. Luckily, my advisor is working on obtaining a grant working on school system interactions, and I think some of the topics I've found to be most viable will fit into her grant idea. I've also begun a consultation practicum, which means I actually get to work in a school with a teacher, helping he/she solve classroom issues/develop plans to counteract problems. It's challenging, but so far I feel like I've been doing ok!

As for living in Philly, I love it. There's still lots to do (mostly because outside of school and work, I don't have much time to do anything else!). It's strange, it has a small city feel, mainly because there are areas of the city I don't go into (ghettos and such). I'm hoping this summer (maybe) that I'll be able to get out and do more stuff this summer; we'll see.

As for my job, it's really, really slow right now. Which is great because I can get school work done there, but I feel like the staff sometimes look at me as lazy because I don't have anything to do! Since my boss just got her grant to go through, I'm hoping there will be some more work, so I don't end up staring at a computer all day purposelessly.

That is my life in a nutshell right now; one reason I don't blog about it is because it's not that exciting!

That and I'm lazy. :o)
