Back when I started writing fanfic in the Harry Potter fandom, I went by the name of Tubesox on fanfiction.net. Eventually, I gave up on writing in that fandom, though I occasionally pop back over to favorite authors and pairings when I need a fix. When I started writing House fiction, I naturally wrote under the same pen name, but as time went on and I started making fanvids and posting them on YouTube, I created a different name to go with a different LJ and keep my fandom life separate from that old journal that had more personal details. Tonight, in yet another excuse to avoid working, I decided to go over to fanfiction.net and change my pen name. Merge my two fandom identities, as it were. Then, when I was looking at the list of Harry Potter fics I have published over there, I noticed quite a few missing pieces. Years ago, I actually signed up for fic fests, instead of sitting in front of my computer and greedily consuming the offerings of others. I suppose these fests had a claim on these fics, but since they were written in 2004 and 2005, I figured, what the hell? So I've just spent the last two hours making over 30,000 words ff.net compatible and adding a big whopping author's note, explaining both my pen name switch and the fact that the fics are extremely AU now that the series is over. I should have taken the time to read the things again with an older, hopefully more experienced, eye, but I felt it was more honest to re-post them as is. Sort of a testament to how I've grown as a writer, or, maybe, how I've gotten worse. I don't see myself ever writing in the HP fandom again. I'm not quite sure why. But I've enjoyed spending the last few hours with my younger self. 2005 is not exactly pre-history, but it was pre- a lot of things. I like reading older stories and trying to remember the person who wrote them.
