When Cal and Sam
arrived from Milliways, they lost no time in hitting the shower: sand in the bed isn't much fun for anyone, after all.
So now the bottom of Cal's tub is finely coated with sand, but the bed is comfortably sand-free for post-coital lounging.
(He's sprawled out comfortably, half on Cal and half off, with his head tucked into the crook of Cal's shoulder.)

"You don't have to stay, then," he says, voice a little slower and lazier than usual. He is secure in the knowledge that there is no power on this particular Earth that could make Sam move before they're both good and ready.

Sam strokes Cal's chest absent-mindedly with the tips of his long fingers.
"I didn't say that was a bad thing."

He listens, without quite realizing it, for sounds on the other side of the bedroom door that might indicate that Penny is growing weary of being shut out of whatever it is Cal does with other people in there that she is not allowed to join, but it's quiet for the moment.
"I think you especially liked it about ten minutes ago," he adds, sounding fairly pleased with himself. Going down on Sam gets easier every time he does it, making the act more and more a positive thing and eroding the negative associations it had carried before.
He doesn't know if he'll ever really enjoy it, but he definitely enjoys the responses it gets.

"Maybe I just didn't want to hurt your feelings."

"I hate to break it to you, but people are only experts right away in porno."
Yes, Sam. Pornography lies.
(Also Cal is not one hundred percent secure on his performance in that department just yet.)

"I don't know, you're a pretty quick learner."

"Remember those times when you were a woman?" he asks. "Because I'm gonna get as good at this as I am at that."
Pleasing a woman is not a department in which Cal has any insecurities. Tina taught him well.
(And Bela wouldn't put up with a bad lay.)

Sam strokes Cal's hair away from his face. "You're enjoying this, though, right?"

"Yeah," he says, reaching up to take Sam's hand in his. "I couldn't do it if I didn't like it.
"It's weird, though . . . sometimes I can't remember why it freaked me out so much when I woke up and you were a guy again, and sometimes -" He pauses for a second to find words. "Sometimes I remember exactly why."
He's comfortable with Sam now, and with what they do, but it still gives him pause every now and then to remember that this is a man he's so attracted to.

"Mm. That will fade, I think." I hope. "With time."
Reply
"I gotta say, you make it pretty easy to deal with."
If he really had to be attracted to a man, Sam is not a bad choice.
Reply
"Good. Being pretty easy probably helps."
Reply
"So - basically I always like you."

Cal strokes his thumb over Sam's hand, trying halfheartedly to think of things Sam doesn't already know.
