2003

Jan 08, 2004 22:58

I've been meaning to do this for a while:

1. What did you do in 2003 that you'd never done before? Turned 18, saw a bunch of my favorite bands in concert- nothing really big.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't remember what mine was last year. I don't think I made one. But this year I decided I'm going to do a better job at saving my money and spending it wisely.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth? There were a few people I knew who had babies.

4. Did anyone close to you die? Mrs. Becky

5. What countries did you visit? none.

6. What would you like to have in 2004 that you lacked in 2003? Oh there are lots of things. I would love to have a mini cooper! :) And a scholarship to Belmont would be nice.

7. What date from 2003 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? Not sure that there's really one specific date. Just lots of good memories.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? realizing that my sister, who I used to fight with ALL the time, is actually one of the coolest people I know, and that she is one of my best friends. Also figuring out what I want to do with my life.

9. What was your biggest failure? Allowing changes in myself that were not positive, things that might take a while to fix. Not being as good of a friend to some people as I would have liked.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Just minor illness, like the flu.

11. What was the best thing you bought? hm.. presents for other people. lol.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration? My sister, my mom, Mr. John (really his whole family- they are so strong and encourage me so much.)

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? Well, I realized that some people were not really everything I had imagined them to be, but I'm not going to name anyone.

14. Where did most of your money go? Buying cd's and going to concerts.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Turning 18, going to various concerts (Coldplay, JLC, Something Corporate, Dave Barnes, Andy Davis, Rob Blackledge, Howie Day, Matt Nathanson, etc. :)

16. What song will always remind you of 2003? Probably "Konstantine" by SoCo, "Close Your Eyes" by JLC, and "Under You" by Better Than Ezra.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I think I'm about the same. Maybe a little happier since I'm one year closer to graduating.
ii. thinner or fatter? I think that I'm fatter.
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Having fun and hanging out with my friends instead of working all the time! Reading my Bible and praying.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Wasting time/procrastinating.

20. How will you be spending Christmas? uh, I went to my grandparents' houses and then on Christmas day stayed home with my family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2003? No.

23. How many one-night stands? Zero

24. What was your favourite TV program? Smallville, Gilmore Girls, The OC, One Tree Hill, and Friends.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? no, I don't really hate anyone.

26. What was the best book you read? I really read too many to just choose one.

27. What was your greatest musical (re)discovery? Ok seriously there is really no way I could answer this question. Basically anything that I have in my cd case since this year was pretty much the year of musical discovery for me. I guess some of my favorite discoveries were Matt Nathanson, Andy Davis, Matt Wertz, and Taking Back Sunday. My favorite rediscovery was definitely Jump, Little Children.

28. What did you want and get? Lots of things.

29. What did you want and not get? lol, to see Paul Weaver one more time. ::sigh::

30. What was your favourite film of this year? Ok well, I have a problem remembering what year films were made, so I'll just put some of my favorite movies that I saw for the first time this year- The Usual Suspects, Donnie Darko, and Snatch.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I was 18, and my WONDERFUL sister threw me a surprise party where she had all of my friends show up and Rob Blackledge played and everything. It was great.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? Being more comfortable with myself would have helped a lot. And having a boyfriend or just some close guy friends wouldn't have been all that bad.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2003? scattered. Not really one style, just a bunch of different ones depending on my mood.

34. What kept you sane? music. my sister. my best friend.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? oh wow. The ever present Brad Pitt. :) And recently I've been pretty obsessed with Jake Gyllenhaal. He's adorable. umm. Also Orlando Bloom in LOTR- Elves are sexy.

36. What political issue stirred you the most? Probably the whole AIDS issue in general- in America, in foreign countries, etc. Something about it just really affected me.

37. Who did you miss? I miss Mark and Suzi. SO much. Oh and Andy! Gosh how could I forget Andy.

38. Who was the best new person you met? Katie, Lauren, and Tommy from AL. And David. lol.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2003: Worrying about things does not do a bit of good, and most of the time if you're mad at your parents a bad attitude doesn't help.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"She wanted Broadway, underneath the lights, she wanted encores at the end of every night. She planned to keep on singing, when the audience was tough. This wasn't Broadway- it was close enough."
and
"You move in slow degrees, a sudden memory. You're a Leonard Cohen song. And every now and then I'd swear I see you standing, on a sidewalk, in a restaurant, from a taxi passing by."
