I find the MTA Strike incredibly selfish. 7 million people with no public transportation. Shitty Shitty MTA. Way to comprise the security of the entire city.
Maybe it's because I am the son of someone who has had to go on strike numerous times, but I think the people complaining are the selfish ones. I've read some articles and seen some news coverage, and people were given fair warning about what was due to happen, the demands weren't met, and they followed through. Often that's the only way to force someone's hand. I coudl elaborate, but the constraints of livejournal make it inappropriate to write a full diatribe.
It's an incredibly shitty way for the TWU to make a point. It's a play that I find to be nothing but bullyish. Leaving people stranded, forced to maybe find a cab if they CAN, otherwise be forced to WALK over bridges in bitter cold weather. Awesome.
I believe you do know me from Geneseo, if I'm thinking you're the same person that you are. I'm Andrea, I worked on Waiting for Lefty.
And for reference, I live in NYC, my father is a transit worker, and he's just as angry as most of the commuters (like me). However, I agree with John on this one. The transit workers deserve to have their problems addressed, even if Toussaint is not the most eloquent. Yes, as a commuter I am inconvenienced along with everyone else, but I guess when it effects you directly, you become more sympathetic.
I didnt even GO to geneseo. I have no idea who you are but would be more than glad to agree to disagree with you. You have a point, I have a point. Everybody gets an opinion. GROUP HUG TIME.

And what about the workers, are their problems less important than the problems of those they serve?
