About the new job

Feb 03, 2008 15:16

Alright, it's Sunday afternoon, I just had breakfast, I've been sleeping a lot, watched the 3rd season of 24 in the last two days and now I feel like updating you all about my little life.

You might remember that I didn't want to go the interview in the first place, because the description sounded crappy, but went anyway and was surprised about what they actually offered. So I agreed to work there, still temping for another year, but earning more money.

Friday now was the first day and I was supposed to show up at 8:30. I was nervous, went to bed early the night before (about 11:30) and woke up on my own on 6:15. o.O
When I finally arrived at the E.ON office, I found some very astonishing things. An office I have all for myself, as big as the room I live in, a laptop with a docking station, a huge monitor. They already have provided my network access, passwords, an email account and access to several programs. The only thing that wasn't ready was my ID card.
Holy crap!
That's what I call a good preparation.

So I spent the morning meeting new people and reading orga-sheets, presentation reports and guidelines to familiarize myself with my new job.

My boss' name is Christina, she is about my age and seems to be a nice, uncomplicated sort of person. The same goes for Eva, the other girl working on the project.

They told me, that I was supposed to split my workload. 30% as a project assistant for them and 70% doing some IT work for data gathering kind of project. The woman responsible for it is on holidays until Wednesday.

Then we went to meet the big boss. Oh wow. He's nice. First impression: like one of my ex-bosses from BMW, only with a Bavarian accent. If that impression stays, I'm in for a very good year. He quite frankly asked my why I had been temping in the last years and why I never got hired by one of the companies I've worked for so far. I told him about the circumstances and then again, quite frankly, he told me that if I was doing a very good job and they are always willing to hire good people, I should to the math.
Then we all went to have lunch. The canteen is cute! Great food and cheaper then at NSN. Looking forward to that part.

In the afternoon, after quite some reading, I started with the first thing to do, creating a list for all the necessary data, we'll need to collect for new projects. One of those lists, that contains everything and can tell you anything.

Looking forward to work.
