Just realized that
DG vs Meat is on the 19th. I'm getting my hair done that evening, so maybe I can get dressed at the salon and head to the club directly afterwards with my new hair. COOO!!!!
It will be a very long day, as I'm going to be fitting 18th century stays with Red Katie, then rushing off to SF for hair.
I met with a client today,
Ariellah, to drape this shirt for her:

This is from
Alice Addict - Mihara Mitsukaz Collection. (more awesome pictures
here). I'm not charging her much to make this, as I wanted to use the pattern for Dark Couture, but since the chances of my actually starting up that business are effectively nil due to the Career, it's now being done more as a favor. It's a beautiful piece for a beautiful woman. And I will likely make it for myself in different fabrics.
There are probably about 25 pieces for this shirt (18 of them being for the sleeves alone), so I had to take meticulous notes as to its construction. It's fairly simple, but the pieces could get lost easily. The digital photos I took of the draping will help enormously, I think.
Instead of smooth satin at the breastband and for the tails, we found a black on black brocade to use instead. The mesh areas will be a black stretch rose-patterned mesh over nude spandex. Instead of a purple lining for the tail, we chose a black crepe satin. The black stripes between the mesh, the detail over the breasts, and the sleeve ribbons will be black stretch velvet.
Still working on the 18th century stays. boning is complete and now I'm sewing up the eyelets (all 44 of them. ugh). With any luck, I'll get them done tonight.
And happy birthday to
kryscat!
