So, there was a lizard looking down at me when I woke up this morning. It just lay there on the top of my tent puzzling on what this weirdo is doing in its neck of the woods, I guess. Yeah, we had a fantastic time at the Florida Folk Festival. Danced my ass off!! ...and my knees... and the soles of my feet... and Robin, Alyssa, Lini, etc. kept on going and going like the energizer bunnies that they are... man, if I had half the stamina those girls have!! What is in their wheaties???
But yeah, folk festival this year was crazy fun. Learned to salsa, learned how DEEP (and brown and scary, but Ooooohhhhh so fucking refreshing) the suwannee river is, ate my way across like 6 cultures, learned 4 capoeira moves (my cartwheel still needs work, I hear), lay on the ground and watched the stars through a pine canopy while listening to Emmylou Harris jam on in her doleful, bluegrass/country/folksy vibe. Damn, but it was a good weekend. My one regret is that I didn't get to hang out with my 'hair' family as much as I would have liked... but there's always next year, right? ;-)
We drove back into town this morning blissfully sore from partying to African drums till late last night.
Now it's back to homework. I have stuff due tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday that I need to get to. Blah to assignments!!!! Still, I had a great time this weekend. I can't complain, even in the light of all this work I have to do. I'll just tap my fingers to some salsa music, and let the winds of the next few days carry me.
again, why the folk not?
peace,
Isani
