After applying for somewhere between 50 and 100 jobs, I finally have my first job interview this afternoon. Somehow this is suddenly all a lot scarier than in all the practice interviews I've been doing! It not great pay, but it's full time, and given how long I've been out of the job market, is, I'm told, as much as I can expect anywhere, and something is better than nothing. The job market is rough - besides the economy forcing companies to downsize, the city, county and state all have job freezes, and the feds aren't hiring. The University doesn't have any money until Calif. has a budget, and even then will be tightening its belt, plus giving priority to those with "decades of recent experience". *sigh* So one just has to be happy to get a foot in the door at all, if I can. The biggest down side is that the school I'm applying at may close permanently at the end of the school year, and I won't be very high on the seniority scale.
I finally found interview suit pants that won't split when I sit down. That should help.
I leave shortly for court, which I will have to leave early from to go to the interview. Keep your fingers crossed!
I'm nervous but excited!
