Vacation almost over.

Flying back to LA tomorrow evening with twice-and-change the amount of stuff I came with. This hasn't been the most restful vacation, but at least I've gotten things done- new bank account (for no really good reason); got some of my stuff out of storage, a great deal of which was given away to charity; some sewing managed until the machine went all weird; doctors seen; both new and old books regained; family photos taken; movies seen; CDRs sorted and wig dyed as of this evening.

More importantly, I spent time with my family and cuddled the living crap out of my dogs and cats. I'm going to miss them when I go back- these cats are the cuddliest, softest, most affectionate things I've ever known. Especially with their winter coats- they're just floof with an underlayer of floof and topped with a fine, thick coat of floof. I rather wish I'd brought my camera, just for the times I've caught two or three of them curled up together purring. If I wake up in the night I can barely move because the bed is all covered in snuggled-up kitty.

I have now seen PotC: AWE. I tried to make a diagram of all the double-/triple-/eleventeenth-crosses in this movie, but I stopped after it started looking like something I would find under the couch. At least they didn't actually make Elizabeth the goddess- I disliked the character and the acting of the character enough without that added impetus. Pirate King my ass. I continued to like Davy and Dalma- what other films has he been in?- and found myself rooting for them. Was that bad? And does anyone have any good post-canon fics involving what happened to those two? Norrington was exceptionally ill-used, but due to someone spoiling me, it was hardly a surprise. The effects were lovely, and all that debris was spectacular. Poor Bootstrap. Yay malestrom! ^__^

Packing now, alas. Work on Thursday, which is great because yay work, and less great because I know I'm going to be wiped out from traveling. Oh well. At least this time I'll know better than to accept a voucher and risk another nine or ten hours stuck in an airport waiting for my name to come up on the waiting list and catching the flu from other travelers. I need to schedule time to see friends when I get back, too.

Happy New Year, kits.
