Dear Rouge are one of the few local bands who don't take their free gigs or audience for granted. They actually work the freeloading crowds harder than some of their paid gigs.
Compared to their Commodore show a few months ago, in spite of the freezing cold, they were more energetic and into their performance. Danielle looked as though she didn't want to spend New Year's Eve anywhere else but on stage.
The set was a short 30 minutes, therefore, it was an all or nothing attitude by them.
They debuted a new song and played some singles. As much as I love their covers I'm glad that they didn't waste valuable set list time with a filler. The audience was positively receptive to their material that they didn't need the safety net.
