Isabella was used to being like that, it was a feeling; or rather lack of feeling that had never truly left her since her parents had died. It was a blessing and a curse. Her lack of love for Thornton caused her beatings, but it was the numbness that stopped them killing her.
Isabella had always been numb, at least until now. There had been a warmth that filled her when Robin was around, a light that danced in her eyes.
Now he was gone, but Isabella was no longer numb.
She was cold and finally she felt pain.
