Exactly what it says on the tin: a feeler for a group order at Adaigo (www.adagio.com), an online purveyor of fine teas. Those of you active on Tumblr may have already come across this site through Cara McGee's fandom blends (
http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/list.html?userId=240445), for everyone else… it's a big site of tea!
The reasons for this hopefully to-be group order are simple; international shipment from Adaigo is expensive as *bleep*. The rates go per kilo, with 1kg of tea (about 11 bags) costing $36.77 to ship to the Netherlands, which to me is a bit steep for 5 bags of tea, no matter how many feels it is made of.
So here's my offer to you all: You let me know which tea you would like from Adaigo, fandom or regular, you pay the price of that, and we split the shipment evenly between all of us (since it'll be the same regardless of who orders how much). I will take care of all the administrative humbug and shout at the postal service if necessary.
If there's enough interest (like… 1 person? 2?) I'll make a Big Post of Information, but here's a few things I'll want to mention right now:
- Right now this hypothetical order is in the '1 KG' category, meaning it can contain up to 11 bags of tea. I have 5 that I really want, so that leaves 6 'spots' open. If we somehow end up with the order going over 11 bags of tea everyone will be contacted with new shipment costs. If everyone agrees to that we'll move on, if not the person causing the 'overflow' will be asked to either reduce their number of teas or pay the extra money that would otherwise have been paid by whoever isn't up to paying extra. If the order does move up a weight-level those already participating can add extras teas to their order and will be put on the list before any potential new participants.
- I will give all the shipment-costs in euros after running the totals through a currency converter, but there's always a chance things will shift due to, well, the global market and whatever else influences the value of a dollar. If there's a difference in costs I will pay for it, unless the final price is over 5 euros above the previous price. If this happens everyone will be contacted and the difference split between all participants.
- While I expect no trouble with Customs I will give a worst-case scenario for costs, should they happen.
- I'm open to taking orders for people outside of the Netherlands, but keep in mind that unless you're a) willing to travel to Amsterdam for tea or b) happen to go to the same events as me, the price of shipping to other countries will be quite steep, even within Europe, and you'll be responsible for whatever costs your local Customs may slap onto your tea.
I think that's the basics for now. Feeler is go! Who wants to order glorious tea with me? *sparklebeam*
