The unimportant stuff.

sparkyboy mentioned being upset...  I then mention that I didn't like a lot of the performances at that Best of Broadway thing.  He's like no...  At the music industry.  That you have all these great people on Broadway and then you have a like Britney Spears with the paps following her and she's not all that great.  I mean, you have to add in singing, dancing, acting...  The fact they do it 8 times a week, live.  No modification like they can do in the studio.  Then, some people don't want that fame.  I mean, sure you have your Lea Salonga's, your Idina Menzels (I guess...)  But who really knows them?  Unless you're a fan of bway or Disney movies...  Or Filipino for the first...  Who?  I then added.  But then no one buys their solo albums.

Train ride home sparkyboy and I were talking about Heroes.  I mentioned my dislike of Hayden and Milo...  Mentioned Halo is boring.  I'm saying it now.  I coined Panettimiglia.

OMG!!!  Jesse Johnson is coming on as Luke in Feb!!!  I don't even need his autograph, but yeah!  I needs to see him again!!!  I guess that means I'm not seeing Austin.  Once again, feels ridiculous with seeing the show just because a new performer is in the show or a favorite.  I mean...  If say Tyler stepped back into the role, I wouldn’t hesitate, but still.

American Idol.  I was bored.  Watching cause I have a suspicion someone I stalk may be on it...  But LOL at the chick singing, well not at singing, but at saying she will sing I'm Not Going by *Jennifer Hudson.*  What?  LOLOL!!!

Persuasion.  For some reason I've always thought it had an s...  Anyway, part of Masterpiece Theater's The Complete Jane Austen.  I had seen the "original" with arg...  I can't remember her name and I don't feel like looking it up.  But Sam West is in the movie somewhere.  Anyway, I missed the beginning of this and was confuzzled as hell I had to watch it again.  But before that I was like...  I'm confuzzled as hell but my God men in period costume...  HOT!!!  Seriously!  What the phage!?!  Oh and is that Giles of Buffy fame?  It's weird to see him in a period drama cause as far as I know he's not one to rotate through them like a lot of British actors.  Anyway, rewatch.  Oh...  So 8 years ago, at 19, Anne had met and fell in love with Wentworth.  Her father and her Godmother didn't think it was a good match cause at the time cause he was an up and coming officer, penniless.  Her father even mentions his distaste for the Navy...  Saying they are social climbing like the Nouveau riche.  OK I added that last part.  But you get it.  Anyway, so they break up or he goes off to war.  Makes his money.  Anne and her fam, after her mother's death go into financial ruin cause the father and oldest sister spend too much.  Had to move out and rent their house...  To a naval admiral...  Who happens to be the brother in law of now Captain Wentworth!  They end up meeting again.  Seeming like they've never met before.  She has to take care of her ailing sister.  Who has 2 young, annoying sister in laws.  One of course will try to obtain Capt Wentworth.  One bashes her head open.  Capt W takes care of her.  Rumors that they are to be married.  Anne on the other hand returns home after the accident.  She meet her cousin...  So he comes up cause he's heir to the family fortune, unless Anne's father remarries and has a male heir.  He makes advances and proposes to Anne, etc, etc.  His feelings for her are sincere, but later you discover that on the side he plans to have an affair with the chick that Anne's father has his eye on.  Say huh?  I don't know, it was just weird and far fetched.  Anyway, rumors go out Anne and Mr. Elliot are engaged as well.  So, Wentworth goes to Anne saying if it's true the Admiral and his fam will leave their former house so they may have it again as their home.  She's like thank you, but uh no.  Cause crazy family comes to the house, her father and her Godmother who disapproved of the match 8 years ago show up and give him nasty looks, he leaves.  Only later to write a letter confessing his love for her, etc, etc and she's running crazily around the streets of Bath looking for him.  She ends with giving him a look and a really awkward kiss...

Over all there were still times I was confuzzled as hell.  I couldn't keep the people and the storyline straight.  The actress and the looking into the camera annoyed the hell out of me.  The running around at the end was redonculous!  I didn't feel a connection, at least from Capt Wentworth for Anne till the end.  But then, it's told on Anne's side and she doesn't know his feelings till then.  No clue from the dude cause the whole stiff upper lip thing.  But then he doesn't really try to get her alone.  He throws her onto the carriage, etc.  But my God...  Men in period costume are so hot!!!  I now want a Jane Austen marathon.

Random notes on Persuasion.
  • The actress looked a bit like Frances O'Connor.  That turned into...  Wait, she is British born, but Australian raised, right?  I guess it's different for white people.  I mean, you don't get trapped between 2 cultures.  But then...  My cousins born in the Philippines but raised here...  At this point I wouldn't call them less American than I.  But then I don't consider myself to be solely American.  Anyway, what was I getting to???  Oh but then Jamie Bamber mentioned at ICON he considers himself to being an American living abroad.  I wonder what that means really?  How is American different from British???
  • The dude playing Wentworth, Rupert Penry Jones.  1970?  Seriously?  He looks good.  I expected him to be at least around my age.  Speaking of my age.  It keeps pissing me off when sparkyboy talks about older people and then says...  Oh they were my age.  So mean!

RENT, not my favorite musical, but it's closing.  Kinda sad.  Kinda excited to see what will replace it.  ONTD comment thread.  Exactly!

Project Runway Philippines.  OMG!!!  I hope to God it's in English!  I imagine it will be a total gay fest!

    Xanadu!
  • Lol at the movie review.  Ugh...  It's only 90 mins???  For Bway prices!?!  "We'll let you know when it closes."  OMG!!!  LOL!!! I literally said that really loud, my parents are probably thinking what the hell?  LOLOL!!!
  • I liked James Carpinello in So NoTORIous...  But honestly, he's nothing special singing wise.  Maybe he has a personality.  I don't know...  But Cheyenne is way superior vocally.
