Monday. I think I missed a memo... No one was in! But then again only 2 other people were on the schedule, one was supposed to be with me, the other in peds. Thanks... Once again in trauma. Slowish day... Beds full, I saw a patient, someone post CPR, on and off periods, but I did nothing... The resident told the nurse to do everything that the other res asked me to do. He taught me here and there. OMG... So the attending, someone who I never worked with / doesn't stay too much... Popped up a CXR, asked me to read it. Uh... Actually I thought I did pretty well. At first, like usual I'm all over the place. Then he's like how do you read a CXR, first assess the quality. I'm like slight rotation, overexposed. He's like read it outside in. Soft tissue, bone, ribs, lungs / heart. Oh... I said there wasn't infiltrate, but later said it was patch infiltrate, but the angles were clear. The resident pointed to it... Oh, no the... The area between the lobes... What's it called? Think think... The fissure. Anyway, I thought I did well. Later freaking elbow / arm xray. OMG... I suck at anatomy! Freaking olecronons, condyles, etc, etc. The freaking resident was signaling to me the answers I'm saying things like I don't know, which I don't... He's like, see you know. Speak with confidence. Lol. But here's the real downer. I worked up a patient, they just gave her a crash bed cause there was no room elsewhere. She came in for a mammogram, by ambulance... After calling 911... Anyway, they decide to triage her and discover her O2 sat is 90, generalized edema. They decide to admit her. Anyway, at some point he asks me what's the treatment of CHF. Uh... Well she was on furosemide. God! Why didn't I just list off the meds she came with!?! Idiot! Other than that I blanked. He basically outed me saying I didn't know the tx cause I was bsing him. I suck!
So... It's my day off and I attempted to study.
I discovered I have a latex allergy... But I thought the gloves were latex free... I think I'm actually prone to contact dermatitis, cause my watches (a leather and metal one.) Earrings that aren't real gold / antiallergenic. Gloves of some sort.
Went to Target. Bought my ems outfit. Fraking ridiculous I have to buy a completely new outfit for one day... Had to venture into the mens section for blue khakis. Blue polo shirt, blue hoodie... Hopefully it's not cold cause I'd need a blue jacket as well. Fraking ridiculous!
