Went to a Philippine Medical Association of America meeting. There was no speaker, but they briefly talked about Allergic Rhinitis. The whole time I'm thinking... Is it really necessary to treat? I mean, it will just come back. Then they had someone talk about... Asmanex Twisthaler. I immediately think bad of pharm reps... Thinking what's so different? So what it's an inhaled steroid? I mean, aren't combo things, like Advair supposed to be better? At one point they bring up soon they're (The FDA) gonna announce something about adverse effects of ß2 agonists. Ugh... I mean, not toward the FDA... Just people are so over sensitive. Reminds me of this thing Dr. Kukar showed us. Something about what a friend of his got when he went to the dentist when he said he was on... I don't remember... Something for calcium... Anyway, they were like we're not responsible for any damage to your teeth, which you can get from merely brushing them... Come on! Anyway, where was I? Then... I guess, I mean, for example, advair is fluticasone / salmeterol, a steroid and ß2 agonist. Long term / immediate acting. Maybe you don't need something immediately... I mean, what's a rescue inhaler for? Why use it if you don't need it? Possibility of side effects... I mean, I doubt it's gonna kill you, but... Then it's better than the 1st generations... Anyway, it makes sense. Mom thinks
sparkyboy should try it out. Just wash your mouth...
[Edit: Salmeterol is a long acting ß2 agonist... Hm... just anti-inflammation or anti-inflam and a bronchodilator... I'd go for the latter... But then again I don't have asthma, so who cares... I guess, if I had a patient with asthma and was complaining about ß2 side effects I'd give them the other thing...]
Talked about the mission to the Philippines. They're only treating the poor, maybe even the priests. They then said male drs only. Aw... Seriously, why couldn't a female doctor do it? Not like they are the ones seeing a naked women. Dr. Pt confidentiality... I mean they should be familiar with that, in a sense. Anyway, they said the reasoning was only males are allowed in the rectory.
Tomorrow, I'm starting Nephro. Long hours...
When I came home Wednesday, like around 1, I took a nap... Before I feel asleep, feeling exhausted, I thought to myself... Do I really want to do this for... 1 more year of med school, 3 years of residency? I mean, this isn't even bad. Maybe the fact that I came home early, cause I rarely feel like that when I get home around 6. God... Kings County, getting home at 9, immediatly sleeping then up again in the AM, seems like so long ago...
Project Runway commentary... So
geebs made a
comment to one of my entries, about my and his top 5... I went back through all the challenges and picked out my faves...
Challenge 1 -
Santino - I thought everyone else's looked too plain or just ugly.
Challenge 2 -
Diana - Did you see what it looked like before???
Challenge 3 -
Diana - I just didn't like Nick's green. I think I was a fan of Dan's (Franco) on the runway, but the I don't seem to like the pic... So I went for Diana.
Challenge 4 -
Diana - Geeze Louise! The thing is... I thought it was too much like
Jay's but the idea pitched was so different that what was achieved...
Challenge 5 -
Santino - Once again, everything looked either too plain or just ugly.
Challenge 6 -
Diana and Marla - Even though they lost... I didn't like the jackets on the rest really. I guess if under the up tight nun exterior they had something wilder...
Challenge 7 -
Nick - About fricking time... I thought the cut was interesting.
Challenge 8 -
Andrae - He was robbed!!! I'm sorry, I thought the shirt on Daniel's was ugly... I wouldn't be caught dead in something like that...
Challenge 9 -
Danny V - Kara was a close 2nd, but her skirt, made of moss looked like a doormat... Lol, like Tim Gunn said in his
blog... "Someone had to be OUT. Andrae, be proud of your fine showing and see you at the Red Lobster!"
From Santino's
blog LOL!!!
