On Friday saw Doctor Zhivago with Mom, Aures and Paul.
I mean, I bought the tickets, but I was shocked to find out I was sitting front row Mezz. Like the literal front row / in the center! AKA the supposed best seats in the house. I had bought the tickets that Mon too. Anyway... All I really have to say is it had good vocal performances, there were moments that I was really into / enjoyed, but... There were no memorable songs. Oh, well, I did enjoy that one song between Tonia and Lara... And they sang Somewhere My Love. But I think it fell short of my expectations. I mean it's set in Russia and I didn't feel it captured that in both set and music. I'm comparing it to the movie which I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it. Even with that... To me it's an epic love story set against the Russian revolution. And I never warmed to Lara. I mean... I like Dr. Zhivago as a character, but I never approved to his love of Lara. If that makes sense... I haven't seen it in a while, and I've never read the book, but I felt the musical focused on following your passion, AKA Lara and more his poetry. Anyway, the upper upper level, the rear mezz was practically empty. 1 guy was nominated for a minor award. I won't be surprised if this show closes soon.
