Poppies, Pomegranates, and Computer Poultices

Stuck at home today. *blows raspberries*
Apparently I tore rather important bits of the muscles in my thighs yesterday and am having loads of trouble moving without cursing so driving a stick shift car is right out. The warm laptop sitting on top of the ouchy quads feels really good, however.

Was watching the noon news a bit ago and saw a story talking about how the US is trying to convince Afghani farmers to forgo planting their poppy crops in favor of pomegranates. The farmers are paid about $1000 USD per acre by the drug lords for the poppies, but one acre of pomegranates could get them twice that with the current demand. Folks are pomegranate crazy right now and while I usually hate fashiony trends, I think I will probably purchase more of them now if I think it helps put the hurt on the drug trade. At any rate, it was an interesting story.

Need to get started on the whole Christmas card thing. I suppose that would be a good thing to work on today while I'm stranded here, but, *sniffles* moving hurts. Perhaps I can combine it with another errands where I already have to be up and can grab my address box. If you'd like a card and I don't have your address, send an email and I'll add you to the pile. Just picked up some cute new cards this past week at the B&N card sale. Not really doing gifts this year if I can help it, but I've always loved sending and receiving cards. It's like a mini treat in your mailbox each night after work and then we tape them to the inside of the front door under a wreath where we can see them regularly and think of all our wonderful friends.

Happy Friday, Everyone.
