OK.... so I really should put into detail everything that happened this weekend, because I'm sure I'll forget it all in a few more days. So I'll give a rough outline.
Thursday: Mom leaves. I get my hair cut (nothing drastic, really just a trim). I go to Walmart to stock up on pocky. Alison makes super awesome Mechacon mixes Pocky and Melonpan.
Friday: I drop off dogs at Pet Inn... so depressing. Leave for first and longest leg of the trip. New Orleans here we come! Arrive in New Orleans around 2:30. Eat lunch and watch Paprika. YAY! Go to wedding. Catch up with relatives I haven't seen in 2 years. Surprise everyone by smoking and drinking (I'm the baby of the family, Coco can't do that!). Get dragged away by mother. Go back to hotel and crash.
Saturday: Walk around French Quarter for an hour and get beignets.... oh how I missed them. Leave for Lafayette. MECHACON HERE WE COME! Arrive at Mechacon around 1-130. Meet up with Nicole. Walk around the dealers room for..... a really long time. Go to "Building an Anime Club" panel where my devotion and excitement about my club is boosted. Go to ADV/Voice Acting panel and listen to Matt Greenfield and Tiffany Grant ramble on about how "great" it is to work in this business. Watched the "first" two episodes of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and apologize to Alison for thinking she was crazy. Try to get into the room where the Cosplay contest is being held and give up when they tell us that we most likely won't get in. Go back to room and watch Hot Fuzz... laugh asses off. Go get some Taco Bell goodness. Managed to catch Bleach and Blood+ on [adult swim]. Crash.
Sunday: More walking around the dealers room. Alison and I realize we spent more money on food than we had realized and decide that next year we are bringing ramen and poptarts... no eating out! Except maybe sushi one night. Anyway, Nicole leaves trying to avoid more money spending. Ali and I go to the auction where we both bid on one thing but win nothing, mainly because they didn't have kimonos this year and some of the things (though I really really wanted them) went up to $200. But it was fun and very entertaining. We sneak back to the dealers room so that I can buy the Samurai Champloo lighter I had been eyeing for two days and she can happen upon a Winry figure and buy it semi-compulsively. We leave around 3-4. Drive back to Alexandria, but not in time to pick up the dogs. Get yelled at by mom, home at last.
And so the weekend ended without any major hitches. Apparently a lot of people enjoyed my "I munna eat choo" shirt. Tomorrow my grandfather, stepgrandmother, uncle mike, aunt ellie, and aunt debbie are all coming up for the night. Ugh. That means I will be exiled to the dog room again. At least i don't work on Friday though, so I won't have to worry about being all gross the next day.
Only 17 more days till I go back to Centenary. UGH!!
