First of all, if you haven't seen Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog,
exactly what is stopping you? Now, onto the Hammer.
The hammer is my penis
Captain Hammer comes from a world where Los Angeles has superheroes and supervillains running around respectively saving the day and destroying it. He's the arch-nemesis of Dr. Horrible, a guy who's really just trying to get into the Evil League of Evil, only to have Hammer ruin things for him over and over and over.
Personality-wise, Captain Hammer is perfectly friendly to everyone unless you talk to him long enough to realize he's really not. He doesn't like being touched by 'inferior' people, he's a total womanizer, and he probably doesn't really like you very much at all. But he's all about his image, and as such, he will act friendly to pretty much everyone unless he thinks you're an evil-doer. Basically, he's a big bully who acts nice to get his way.
Powers-wise, he's very, very strong. Like, he can throw cars at people kind of strong. He's also never felt pain and when he does, he turns into a blithering baby.
Physically, Hammer is a big, tall man, who wears khaki cargo pants and a blue shirt with a yellow hammer logo emblazoned upon it. (Joss had a small budget, okay?) He also might look familiar to the Firefly people, or perhaps to the later-season Buffy types (hi Xander!)
They're not as cool as mine, but folks, you know it's fine to know your place
As far as the class goes, I unfortunately haven't written the syllabus out just yet due to an attack of real life. But we'll be covering common tropes in all types of "hero" adventure stories -- the code name, the secret identity, the danger of capes, sidekicks, battle cries, and et cetera.
Generally I will try to get class up on Tuesday evening, but I can't promise anything. As far as detention, honestly, Hammer will probably only give it to you if you annoy him. I, OOCly, tend to be veeery laid-back, so just email me if you want a detention, and Hammer'll give you one, or don't want one but are heading towards earning it, and we'll figure something out.
