I've only played ME1 once, and I'd already watched my husband play so I knew I'd have to kill off either Ashley or Kaidan and so pretty early on I made the decision to romance Kaidan and kill Ashley, so I never really bothered to get to know her. Now that I've fallen utterly in love with Mass Effect 2 (and completed it several times), I really want to replay ME1 and this time I'm going to romance Liara and kill off Kaidan and get to know Ashley. I'm quite looking forward to it! I've heard a lot of Ashley-hate but I never thought she seemed that bad.
I'm also thinking I might replay ME1 as a guy and romance Ashley, and then import to ME2 and romance Tali (and then probably import again and not romance anybody and stay true to Ash). I wish I could just romance these characters as a girl, I don't really like playing guys much.
Of course, all these ME1&2 replays are going to have to wait until I've finished Dragon Age: Origins + Awakening, and Assassin's Creed II and all the other games I have on the go. I really need to kick my husband off the Xbox more often >.<
My heart so belongs to Garrus. I adore him. I think you said before that one of the things you like about Garrus is that he's totally awesome both as a love interest and as a best friend and I think you're right there. Even when I replay and romance other people, I still always take Garrus everywhere with me. He's just awesome.
