Setapak melangkah
Dua langkah ingatan kanda pada dinda
Adinda bersumpah
Jikalau kakanda tidak kembali
Adinda akan menyusul ke kanda
Menginjat pada tanah yang sama
Bernafas pada udara yang sama
Layar berbelok-belok
Sauh dibongkar di tempat tenang
Yang tinggal hati tak elok
Yang pergi hati tak senang
Bila sampai waktu
Kita akan bersama
Translation may not be correct. Literature has not been my forte, you see :
A step is taken
Two steps reminded me of you
I swear
Shall it happens that you do not return
I will come to you
Walking on the same earth
Breathing in the same air
The wondering bark's agony cries
Anchor descended at calm waters
What's left is an unpleasant heart
What's gone has an unpleasant feel
When the time calls
We shall be together
What you are reading above are the snippets from Puteri Gunung Ledang. These are the wordplay between both Puteri Gunung Ledang and Hang Tuah in the movie remake in 2004 with Tiara Jacquelina and M. Nasir.
This movie is probably the best tale from all the Malay folklore that I have come to know since I was little. Perhaps the imaginary mind sets forth an ideal of true love which comes with an obstacle, that is the love and loyalty to your Sultan or the daunting romance between a princess and the Sultan's warrior.
My idea of love impediments my heart's salutations towards others' relationships. The song 'Bagaikan Sakti' implements the manner which cajoles a heartache towards their separation. The longing between the two separated lovers who were in a forbidden relationship triggers an emotion and it stirred up. Stayed.
Then I started to cry.
