languages

this is one of the few times that i wished i was born in a different country (or at least studied an additional language when i was a kid)

japanese was still ok since it's pretty easy to pronounce like tagalog... pretty simple syllables, simple set of characters which you can already live with (a little kanji would already do)

but chinese is a whole new story. it's hard enough to pronounce the initials much more to distinguish the 4 (or 5) tones. i don't really mind learning (and not to mention, memorizing) the chinese characters because that's one of the things that really interests me in learning a new language. and now i just learned that the class only covers pronunciation.. no characters and probably not much grammar... bleh...

i am thankful that i learned filipino earlier though since it's also a complicated language. i'm glad i also learned english early. so i'm naturally bilingual and somehow multilingual...
