Hee, Edge and his harem. (this be Star Ocean 4 ramble, yes it be) I swear, it really is a harem. There's his girlfriend, the busty elf, the perky catgirl, the clumsy girl (complete with wings), the kid (who really fancies another member of his harem) and then there's the pretty alien boy. =D Plus a robot. Who's out of the count. He's married anyway.
Faize, omg Faize, what are you doing? ;____; The poor boy, poor boy! With the glowy red eyes and everything. He seems so desperate... I've just arrived on Aeos for the second time (in story), and he just keeps getting worse. When I came across that traveler girl I meant to squee about how cute he was going all gaga over that transportation thing and semi-flirting with that girl, but it turned out all wrong... Lym even looks like she's jealous over the girl, but it turned out all wrong!
In that vein...this game sure keeps me on my toes, story-wise. I'm not used to expecting so much variation and twists and turns in my fairly straightforward gaming experience. Places keep disappearing on me before I manage to complete all quests there. I suppose that's my own fault for wanting to forge ahead while I still have the time and the interest to try actually beat this game, but it still irks me in a way. Not being able to finish stuff. In another way, it's making me like the game more. There's a certain finality to everything, and that's rare in the type of games I usually play.
There's also how personal conflicts aren't solved in a flash. It actually takes some time, and the first word that makes sense doesn't make them have a complete turnaround on their angst. I like that. Seems to me this game has fairly strong character development, even if all the people so far can be easily described and they strongly correspond with their archetypes. And then there's the very strong character interaction element. I'm charmed.
I'm fairly certain by now I'll end up getting more of this series sometime 'soon'. Will see how I'll manage, with FF14 and all. That said, I think that unless they're adding lots of new stuff in phase 3 of beta (starts in a couple days) I won't be further testing it for a while. For a while there all I was doing was playing it and making notes and everything I could find, I'd like to try preserve some of that enthusiasm for retail version...
