A few weeks ago
Rabbi Barras asked our parents to write us letters.
On the D.C. trip he gave us these letters
And we all sat around in a circle reading the words to ourselves.
At one point i looked up at the faces in the circle
And for once, they were not the faces of hardened teenaged boys
Of girls who gave their bodies away freely and easily.
They were the faces of sons and daughters
Who missed their mothers and fathers
And wanted to go home.
