[There's a long silence as he lets that one sink in. He blinks, looking away. It's odd to hear Val referred to as a 'woman'- at sixteen, some would certainly call her so, but had still been so child-like in many ways, so innocent. He'd taken some of that away from her, though- for all he knew, he'd taken all of it away from her, forced her to grow up and learn things about the world earlier and faster than she should have.

Which, of course, is why he's so upset right now. Regret does that to a person. Clearing his throat, he looks back at the journal again.]
