There's very little "art" in this week's "nail art", but I bought this glitter from NYC brand last week, and it just HAD to be used! It came out as gorgeous on my nail as it is in the bottle, in my opinion.
This picture was taken with natural light, what little sunlight we had coming in the windows. I took another with flash, just to see the shine with a bright light on it.
After my standard base coat of Sally Hansen Miracle Cure (still trying to curb that flaking my nails like to do!), I used China Glaze Frostbite for the base color, because I thought it would set off this glitter to its best look. After two coats of Frostbite (which is an odd name for such a royal blue, I think; I keep expecting something with that name to be a pale icy blue), I put on one coat of NYC Starry Silver Glitter. It's the first time I've used glitter bigger than the old tiny flecks that glitter polish always used to have. I don't know if it's how you're "supposed" to put it on, but instead of just brushing it on like a regular polish, I glopped it on a bit first, to get some good glitter chunks on the nail, and then brushed off the excess after a few seconds of letting the glitter sink to the nail. It worked pretty well, in my opinion.
For my accent nails, I tried to match the glitter colors, just for the fun of it. I used Sally Hansen Celeb City for the French Tips (freehand, if you couldn't tell - I've done better), and then used a small dotting tool to add dots with Celeb City, Pure Ice Splash, and Sally Hansen Inventive Frost. I've had that Inventive Frost for years, since I hardly ever wear pink (though I've used it for a for a pink/white basic french mani a couple of times), and surprisingly it's held up really well. I've never had to add thinner to it, even though it's just as old or older than some polishes I've had to throw out after a few years.
I finished up with two coats of China Glaze No-Chip Top Coat, which I use for everything right now, because I haven't bothered to buy a bunch of different ones just yet. ^_^
Just for reference, here are the polishes I used (excluding the base and top coats, 'cause why do you need to actually see the bottles for those?)
