First of all, I had a coughing fit today because of forced air...again...can't stand the dry, dusty breeze of forced air...kills me.

anyway:
Let's see, I don't think I updated in October. hm.

My computer has decided to die suddenly this week.  It is frozen and refuses to turn on anymore.  It would cost 300 to fix it.  i just want a data extraction, no 300 dollars!

I dressed as Meghaan for Halloween and it went over well....on the internet.  In person, at the party we went to, no one there really knew us at all, and they all just wondered why I hadn't dressed up...my indignation at that accusation presented itself in exasperated "But I am wearing make-up!!" over and over.  hm.  Meghaan went as a cute cowgirl.

It is in no way fall-like here.  Although, I hear it is supposed to rain on Thursday...here's hoping!  I think it is actually greener than it was a month ago, due to it raining twice in the last month.  It was sunny and close to 80 today.  crazy.  I am still wearing short-sleeves everywhere...and sweating...and tanning.

not natural!

for me.

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving, even though I know it will be rather crazy.  There will be all the cooking, the friends to say hello to, places to visit and eat at, family time and possibly a friend giving birth and me watching their baby while she pushes out his sister.

I am going on 2-3 miles walks every day now and every day, I see things that are amusing or pretty or what-have-you.  I have learned, for instance, that hummingbirds have at least two calls...neither of them are pretty to my ears, but amusing all the same.  The first call I can't even imitate and can only describe the noise as the sound of chewing styrofoam, or rolling dried corn on wet pavement...the second call is like a double "chsp" noise...or like someone saying "psst" loudly and with precision.  The hummingbirds sit in trees and "sing" these songs, and they are loud!

Today, a squirrel (they are ginger and fat here) sat on the power line above me and abused me with angry clicks and squealing noises.  Cute!

The green house on the corner has a grey kitten that sleeps in the corner bay window.  I feel the desire to take a picture of it every day, but I feel it would be weird for me to take random pictures of someone else's living room, essentially.  I got to pet it on Saturday because the family puts the kitten outside when they eat breakfast.  It is so small and soft!

I also have a favorite tree on my walk.  It is an evergreen tree with a really tight, interlocking pattern on the needles.  They look like chain mail, and it creates interesting patterns in the branch structure, giving the tree a wavy, dali-esque appearance.

I have also been gleaning from my neighbor's fruit trees.  I have "gleaned" lemons, limes, persimmons, pomegranates and figs.

The lavender is in bloom right now and the bees are going crazy with it.  Actually, it is like spring here, everything is really in bloom and fruits are ripening up right now.  Totally not the feeling of fall.  It is creeping me out.

hm.  i can't think of anything else to write right now.  exciting, you know it!
