Obsession. Need. Compulsion. Hopelessness. Conflicting emotions burst within her like a supernova.
She had fallen asleep, Kaye knew, but to her it felt like entering another world. A world where everything twisted and melted and colors made no sense...but she could forget. That was enough.
Yellow.

"Shut up! Why don't you just shut up!?"

Why? Why? Why? The words echo again and again, pounding against her head, thickening her throat.
Yet again you refuse to drink like a stubborn child.
The silence stifles and she can't breathe again. Perhaps this is really the nightmare. None of it matters. Kaye wants to reach out her hand, comfort him, feel real again. Instead she shifts her legs under her, tugging her oversized sweater down and ignores him completely.

Tears spring to her eyes; quick and unwanted. She lets them fall with a fashioned disinterest. They leave beautiful patterns on the sheets, she thinks.
