Adjust thruster energy levels by 80%.

[See Tony in his suit, helmet off. He extends an arm to an off-screen target, looking very focused before a blast fires, smooth and effortless.]

Stabilizers are online, and recoil has been significantly reduced. Good going, past me. I'll have to write you a thank-you letter.

You're hilarious.

This is as streamlined and efficient as it's going to get. Any more and it's just not economical. Too much waste - too much energy wasted.

It's kind of flashy, isn't it? It would get picked out right away in a fight.

[Pause]

Who's Jarvis?

Don't knock the red, Steve. It looks kickass and that's what matters.

[Tony has his priorities straight.]

Jarvis takes care of the house. Company. Building. Basically an artificial intelligence system I created to make my life easier.

It's dangerous in a combat situation.

[Says the man with the American flag on his shield]

You created him...he's a computer?

[He says that word like it's a different language.]

Still alive, aren't I? Clearly something's working out here. In my favor, might I add.

[Raised eyebrow]

Yes. Artificial intelligence. He's not real, but you can talk to him if you get tired of me.

You went to war in that?

[WONDER. Forget Jarvis for now.]

I went to Afghanistan like this. Took care of a few terrorists, then went back home in time for pizza.

I leave the warring part to the soldiers.

We're fighting Afghanistan?

Ah- yes.

But we are- were- in an era of uninterrupted- sort of- peace.

Oh.

[There's consideration here]

Well...peace is good, right?

ironmanic November 24 2011, 04:40:04 UTC
Peace is good. Peace is also a time potential non-peaceful parties can spend gathering their troops and planning ahead for a full-out attack. It's a double-edged sword, and I'll bite my tongue and say maybe an actual successful threat will appear in, at most, three years.

punchedhitler November 24 2011, 04:40:58 UTC
Do you think that will happen?

Reply

ironmanic November 24 2011, 04:45:35 UTC
The probability is low but still higher than it should be. I've bitten my tongue, and seeing how I'm no masochist, I refuse to bite it anymore.
