Title: In Which Tony Stark Thinks Too Much

Author's Notes: I love Tony/Pepper, honestly, but Ivan/Tony is pretty awesome, too. This sucks, though. I didn't even think while writing it, and in fact, I was pretty fucking dizzy. I accept flames. ♥
Warnings: Iron Man 2 spoilers. And gay relationship. Yeah, you've been warned.

Maybe it's in the way he holds himself.
That's what Tony thinks to himself as he shifts position on his bed, chocolate brown optics still unable to get used to the fact that the one lying beside him is no mirage. Even as he sleeps, Ivan Vanko still radiates some sort of power, and it's funny thinking how that power terrified him to the core that one time at the race track.
But, no.
That's not it.
Tony's absolutely certain that's not it.
Perhaps it's in the way Ivan speaks the word 'power'.
He's arrogant - maybe just as arrogant as Tony (because nobody's as arrogant as him, clearly). Ivan has complete confidence in his abilities. He's strong and he's not afraid of showing it, and striking fears into the hearts of people is just another hobby to him. Nothing new. Not at all.
Wrong again.
The arrogance has stemmed many a conflict between the two (such as an argument that circled around a bird Tony would rather not mention), and Tony's sure that if he didn't feel such a fucking attraction for the man, he would have blasted his brains out. With words or with the beams from his palms or chest, he's not sure of.
Is it the whips?
Thinking back on that, those whips have proved useful countless times.
But if Tony had to think of it now, this would turn into a more rated R piece of writing, which therefore limits to him shaking his head and trying to rethink it.
The similar arc reactor?
No, that would mean Tony's attracted to himself, or something (which isn't too far, actually).
So what is it?
What in the name of Pepper's allergy to strawberries is it that keeps Tony so hooked?
Does Ivan Vanko have heroin in his veins? (No, Tony, you're not Edward Cullen.)
Does he smell like an aphrodisiac? (No, he smells like grease and sweat and Russia. If Russia smells like fancy toilet water.)
Does he contain a hormone that only two people (him and Tony) possess, which therefore makes them attracted even though the both of them are sworn enemies? (... I'm not even going to think back on that one.)
Or was Ivan just bitten by a radioactive whore? (Oh, he'd hit me for thinking that.)
"Dobroe utro, shlyuha*," comes a familiar voice, and Tony lifts himself up on his elbows, staring at the man. "Yeah, yeah," he mumbles right back. "You smell like a garbage truck, too."
It's only Ivan who speaks a language Tony doesn't care about completely understanding.
Is it that?
No, no. It's not.
"You did not sleep?" Ivan Vanko asks, and Tony thinks he loves him like this - when he's just woken up and has yet to turn into the evil nemesis he has to pretend to be. Tony Stark nods, falling back onto the bed. "Nah. I was busy thinking up upgrades for JARVIS," he answers casually, and Ivan only snorts.
"Whatever upgrade you make will never match up to my technology."
"Technology means brushing your teeth."
Ivan only cocks a brow at that, but this is normal. They're always like this, and both men know it.
Then Ivan turns a little, tilts Tony's chin up and kisses him, and--
(Have you ever felt someone kiss you so good it was like you were dying and going to Heaven? Like, even though you were making out in a way that would send you straight to Hell, God still loved you and you felt like you were flying and everything was just electric because you became one with whoever it is you kissed?)
Ivan did not kiss like that.
But he almost did.
Maybe that's what Tony loves most.
Or maybe it's just his inability to think after those hands trailed downward.

The fight has made Tony tired, and he's surprised to see Ivan on the ground.
There's a beeping sound.
'He can't possibly be--!'
He and James Rhodes retreat, and there is an explosion.
It is only at this time that Tony realizes.
